Can we just agree, that no matter what Sergei Bobrovsky is doing right now,
Connor Hellybuck is easily still the best goalie in the league?
I mean, he backstopped us to winning the Jennings Trophy in the regular season.
I'd take that year over year from him, rather than a soon to be accidental Championship on the part of S.B. anyday.
I feel good about how close we are with the group we got,
Eventually no one will remember who won the Cup this year, just the awards and stats.

I'm getting the feeling the contract that's about to start is not going to age well if it's true what Helle said himself, that he felt he was playing his best goal ever against the Avs.
If that's as good as it gets I don't see the path to a Cup with a perennial Vezina candidate who also happens to be an aging and mediocre post season goalie.

Last 2 years in the playoffs his sv% sucked. As did the team defence in front of him. Not all on him.

I will be interested to watch the upcoming tournament between Canada, USA, Sweden, & Finland to see how Hellebuyck does on that stage. From the sounds of it, Bucky has the inside job at the starter's spot but the States certainly will have other solid options.
Ideally Hellebuyck takes the reins and leads the Yanks to a championship to show that he can play well in big games....but I will probably still be cheering for Canada.

Last 2 years in the playoffs his sv% sucked. As did the team defence in front of him. Not all on him. Absolutely not all on him. Probably the complaint anyone would have is that he does not seem to noticeably raise his level in the playoffs. I'm not sure if another level is truly a thing or if it just seems like some goalies just reach another level when the games become more important. I think not many would question he's a great regular season goalie but, this is just me thinking out loud, it could very well be that he just doesn't have a level above that.

Itβs a possibility, your thoughts and your out loud thoughts. If we make the playoffs this upcoming season and he is not successful pushing and pulling the Jets forward, you could possibly be correct. Cheers, 2b9πππ
