Frank Seravelli reported that the Jets and Hurricanes were working on a deal that would be Perfetti, Rutger and a draft pick for Nevas and other assets but Necas would not agree to a long term deal.

Cheers, 2b9πππ However this "proposed" trade does show us the struggles Chevy has to deal with. Over pay and still don't get the desired player.

I'm a Necas fan, but that would have been a horrible trade for the Jets. I would think there would have been more assets coming our way in that proposed deal. It was lopsided. Other rumours had us getting that young Center from the Caps - McMichael? . Seems like we swung at a lot of trades but nothing came out of it.

Only one thing could cheer me up after this amazingly MEH offseason...... Patrik Laine. That would still be meh based on his previous couple seasons The Five Hohl did an article looking at Laine and it basically said that he is statistically comparable to Kyle Connor. A pure goal scorer who does nothing else really...poor defense, doesn't drive offense, zone entries suck, etc. Having yet another player in Winnipeg's top six who only has value once the puck is in the offensive zone or on the powerplay will do nothing to improve this team, in my opinion.

Yes the Laine talk is interesting but a player who can score goals is much more exciting than a team of stone hands like we seem to have in many instances? I think his game has improved enough to give him a shot? This would be a shot of adrenaline for Ehlers Lambert and even Perfetti who would be dishing passes that would find the net! Not all but many many will agree!

Laine burnt his bridges when he left. He won't be back in Winnipeg. He wanted the big contract but Chevy wouldn't pay. Premonition that Laine wouldn't be the "star" he thought he was? Regardless, Laine is not the type of player who will get us a cup.

Cheers, 2b9πππ The difference now is that player who would like to have at least one shot at a Stanley Cup ring have come to the conclusion that they they will not get that in Winnipeg. That is a reflection of Chevy's team-building.
