Hey guys. I need your help. As you know I have the privileged of running the game day threads (when I can) and I have had a lot of fun doing them so far. I have been trying to work on a little something special for the past few days and I simply can not wait to release it to all of you on Saturday. (Typically I will release GDT's the night before the game)
I know some of you have given me some good ideas as to what you want to see in the game day threads. But I need some more help. I am trying to figure out what is worth having and what could be removed.
For example, I am thinking about removing the player watch for the visiting team and only do it for the Jets team each game. This will save me some time and because we are not a multiple team forum, I wondered if it was even necessary.
I have a couple questions. This way I can get an idea of what everyone likes or doesn't about the current threads.
______________________________________________
1) Do you want to keep Player Watch for both teams or just the Jets?
2) Is there anything you would want to remove from the thread that is already in there?
3) What would you like added to the thread?
4) Do you currently like the format? What would you change about the format? (Please note: Some of the stuff I can do is limited to the forum, so please if you have a complicated idea tell me how to do it lol)
I will tell you all this one thing. I am working on something really special that I hope I can do for every game. However, before I do to much on it I want to pick your brains on what is going on so far.
HELP ME OUT!

Excellent idea, JJ. I found this on the Oilers board :bag: but it sets out some of the things typically found in a GDT...might help with the discussion:
Key is not to make it too ambition so that it becomes too much of a burden/task...(thinking of player watch for every team, perhaps?)...it should be fill in the blank for a lot of the basic info imo...any stats (if added) can be found at nhl.com...
This set of items should be in every GDT for sure:
Use this checklist to create a GDT without using a template. Date Game Time TV-Which channel is it on? (TSN, CBC, Sportsnet, PPV, online feed?) Lineups Roster updates (who's injured, etc)
Optional items: Season Series Team Leaders Team Comparison (pp and pk % for example) Radio Online feed Location Who to watch? Keys to the game Refs/linesmen Photos Youtubes

Could you do a "Manitoba Connection" for visiting teams making note of players, coaches and management who may have played or coached in Manitoba, have been born in Manitoba etc...
The GDT's are fantastic, keep up the great work.

Use this checklist to create a GDT without using a template. Date Game Time TV-Which channel is it on? (TSN, CBC, Sportsnet, PPV, online feed?) Lineups Roster updates (who's injured, etc) These are all great and I believe all were used except for the TV Channel. Will include that from now on. I am a bit confused by what you mean "without using a template". Optional items: Season Series Team Leaders Team Comparison (pp and pk % for example) Radio Online feedLocationWho to watch?Keys to the game Refs/linesmen Photos Youtubes[/i][/quote] ok crossed off some stuff that we already do. Online Feeds are more of a just before puckdrop type addition which I would be happy to add when I know we have a source. On top of all this I have already added things like Standings, Team Leaders (only they jets so far not each team when they visit) Season series can be added down the road in one way or another. Could you do a "Manitoba Connection" for visiting teams. I really like this idea. Mostly the player watches I have done so far have been primarily done with Manitoba Connections. Mostly former Brandon Wheat King players. I could easily keep this up in some minor way for sure. We have tried to do that so far, will keep it up as long as I can find the sources.

^ the italics part of my post was a copy and paste of advice for ppl who do the GDTs in Oilers section at HFBoards...it's stickied there...just offering it as a list of things that can go in a GDT and for discussion, not as a specific comment on any previous threads here...I liked your previous GDTs btw...

Ok, thats what I though, I just wasn't sure what you meant.
BTW does anyone know of a way that I could take a huge screen shot and make it fit the width of a post here?
LET ME EXPLAIN.
Could I make a game day thread on Microsoft Word and take a screen shot or something that will allow me to post that here on this forum so I wouldn't have to use the crappy table format that is used.

I can't think why that wouldn't work. Posters couldn't quote directly but I doubt that'd be a big deal. One bit of info I would like to see added is what the Vegas line is on the game, along with the over/under. Throwing in how each team has done straight up and against the spread in their last ten games would be nice to have too. m.

I figured out a way to make the screen shot thing work! as for the over under info. I like what you want done, I am just not sure if I am knowledgeable enough in that area to do the past 10 games and what you want out of it. I can see if I can find something online that I can basically cut and paste.

It's rough around the edges for football purposes, but check this link out: www.tsn.ca/fantasy_news/daily_line/nhl/moneyline/I've never used it for hockey but it's one tool in the belt for those who like some action on the game. How the heck else can I get interested in Calgary repeatedly stomping on the heads of the Roughriders? m.

jjmoohead .... How about for home games posting a pic of a ticket (without section, row, seat of course) Could be a cool way for those without season tickets to be able to print off a set for personal framing. Just a thought.

That is a good idea. I have ripped up all my tickets and handed them out already though, Unfortunitly I would need someone else to send me the image.
