Chevy is no dummy, but smart people have been known to be so convinced about a choice that they ignore the obvious. One can only hope that Chevy and Maurice have a plan to deal with Pavelec if he is not the Great Hope he was promised to be. I am pinning my hopes on Chevy trying to hype Pavelec in order to boost Pavelec's trade value.

I can't take credit for tracking down this stat....... but here it is :
Since 2007-2008..... Pavelec is the ONLY goaltender to appear in more than 200 games with a career SV% of less the .907. He has currently appeared in 289 games.
The only goalie that's close is Dubynk with 177 appearances.

Clearly it's the team he's playing behind! Poor guy - whether he's playing for the Chicago Wolves, the Czechs in the WJC, the Thrashers, the Jets, the Pelicans (?) over in Finland, the Czechs in the Olympics, or in the KHL he's clearly not to blame for the 0.906 career Sv%. Since it clearly must be just his bad luck that every team he's played for has the league's worst defense. Or maybe there's another common denominator.... m.

I heard it's because all these teams had so much confidence in his skills, they just expected too much of him and didn't focus on defence. Just sayin....... 2014/15 - The official return of the "White Out"!!

Maurice mentions at the end of his interview that he has to give Pavelec a "chance" to play better, by giving him a great defense upfront. And then from there he'd assess him individually.

By this logic, Noel should not have been fired until Chevy gave him a chance by building a better team in front of him. Hmm......

I'm hoping Pavelec asks the Jets for a trade or just tell Chevy he doesn't want to come back. Wishful wishing with the money he's making though. I think the fundamentals of his game are just too poor for salvation at the NHL level. The way I see it, his lack of rebound and puck control actually makes his defense look worse than they are...JMHO.

Just throwing this out there.... Remember when the Flyers gave up on Bobrovsky? His GGA was? His Save percentage was? (I remember thinking.. Just a bit more..I may have been biased because of my hate for Bryz)Bob showed flashes then it seemed he crashed, the Flyers moved him, (I thought to myself it's a mistake too soon) IMO he's not too bad at the moment. ( His last game wasn't glorious) Give Pavs one more chance, for 1/4 of a season? Depending on how he does, if he's a sieve right out of the gate sit him, then move on.

If the compliance buyout window wasn't closing this summer I'd be on board with that. That said, maybe the Jets are ok with a regular buyout after 2014-15. m.
