well just watched our new franchise the Jets lose against the Coyotes old Jets franchise , who is your team ? i know my team is the new franchise 100% heck i got old jets jerseys in my closet and now watching this game and watching my team get blown out i dont even want to wear thows jerseys only my pro new jets jersey . I respect people that love the old franchise but tonight watching the old franchise blow my team out 4 to 1 i dont even want to watch the old franchise at all or even think about them at all . But we had good players like Thomas Steen and even Teemue , but we got Kane Ladd Pavlic and the names go on . But what i am trying to get at is , who is in your heart new franchise or Old franchise ?

The "Winnipeg Jets" is an identity that belongs to the City of Winnipeg.
The "Winnipeg Jets" disappeared in the spring of 1996 and re-emerged last Sunday at the MTS Centre.

The FSN Arizona feed was a little too heavy on touting their history of Jets 1.0 for the tastes of some Jets fans. For instance, the text poll was "greatest event in franchise history" and included the Teemu rookie scoring record; also they kept showing the Hawerchuck retired name in the arena throughout the game. Weirdness, especially considering if Phoenix moves to QC, Winnipeg may likely reclaim all of the Jets 1.0 history.
The reason this seems weird is that, for instance, the Minnesota Twins have in their record books the history of the old Washington Senators, a team that won a world series in 1924. However when the Twins won their first WS in 1987, the Senators series win was never mentioned and the win was considered for all purposes to be the first championship in team history.

That's the way I see it too. The Phoenix Coyotes are not the old Jets to me -- as of 1996 they went form most loved to most hated NHL team. So, i don't even relate to the OP's question. The Winnipeg Jets are the identity of the NHL team and fan base that represents Winnipeg -- both past and present.

I'm glad I'm not very superstitious. The way I see it is simple: The Winnipeg Jets brand and identity represents Winnipeg's NOT Phoenix's hockey history. In 1996 the Winnipeg Jets ceased to exist. In 2011 a new team became the Winnipeg Jets to carry on the tradition of having a hockey team at the highest professional level to cheer for in Winnipeg. As I've said before, everyone is free to view these things as they please. It's just entertainment at the end of the day, but that's how I see it and I'm quite comfortable with that.

in my mind, the team we watch here is both the new franchise but also brings the past history with it. The only part of the Jets that rests in PHX are the stats and the "ring of honour". Ok and maybe Ernie Nairn's son.

After the way you acted yesterday, you have no right to be critical of anyone on this forum. Drinking over 12 beers and typing incoherent and rambling statements is one thing. But to brag about it on half your posts means you either have a serious drinking problem or are here to disrupt the forum. PS....The Jets won three WHA Avco Cup championships before the NHL stripped them of all their star players.

PS....The Jets won three WHA Avco Cup championships before the NHL stripped them of all their star players, so maybe read up on Jets history before making incorrect assumptions. i dont know how he acted on here yesterday, but i also get the impression that he must be drinking hard to type the things he is trying to say. the Coyotes are NOT the Winnipeg Jets. old or new. the Jets died in 1996 and have been reborn on May 31/2011. the same day that the Atlanta Thrashers died. i will wear my old Winnipeg Jets t-shirts, hats sweaters with pride. just like i do with the new logo.
