Lucic was going for the puck, so was Miller, what is Lucic supposed to stop because Miller was going to play the puck?? I don't see the problem here, did Lucic get a penalty on the play? If so for what? Goalies can't have it both ways 2 for charging becasue lucic took about 15 strides and was going top speed when he hit him. Of course he took 15 strides or so, he was going for the puck, Miller came out to play it. What's he supposed to do? Could he have stopped prior to hitting him, most likely, or at least tried to, it was a split second play. I like the effort he showed trying to get the puck, if he didn't people would complain about that too

what Lucic did was a penalty regardless of whether the player was a goalie or not: he received a minor for charging...

I think the charging was a marginal call at best.

Lucic knew he was beaten to the puck for a good 3 seconds and didn't make ANY attempt to get out of the way. He clearly targeted Miller, you can tell my his arms being in position for the hit.

Yeah he knew what he was doing, he lifts his hands up as he makes contact and he made absolutely no attempt to avoid hitting him.
You can say goalies should be fair game all you want but the rules say they arent plain and simple.
In lacrosse goalies are fair game if they leave their crease. Ive been on both sides of one of those hits and can say it sucks, with all that equipment its hard to actually take a hit. Imagine being on ice where its way harder to balance.
I played goalie for a bit and never got hit like that but you cant actually expect a goalie to take a hit and be able to defend themselves, its just not possible with that equipment.
Lucic is a punk.

The rule is 42.1 Where do you draw the line? Lots of grey area in this rule, but seriously if the goalie doesn't want to get hit.... He should know, don't venture too far out of the crease. (why else is the crease there?) Miller IMO got cocky, and paid the price.
Yah.. I miss Hextall too! He would have laid out Lucic! Then pummelled the rest of the Bruins on the ice! Would have been fun to see what Billy Smith would have done in that situation! OFF WITH HIS HEAD/LEGS!! lol

Avery wouldn't have lasted 1 season in the old NHL! That's coming from an Avery fan!

Guys, contact with the goalie is a grey area, but intentionally steamrolling him is not. This was not accidental contact, Lucic did it on purpose. Not suspening or fining him sets a very bad precedent, now players can have it in their mind that they can knock the goalie on his ass as hard as can be and get away with it.

Aaaannnnndddd does that mean goalies can skate with out fear of being contacted up to the blue line/centre line/opposing blue line/ Crap : other teams goal crease? Give your head a shake! It's hockey FFS! Goalie out of the crease playing the puck = fair game! Miller made the decision to leave the crease to play the puck! Once that is done IMO he does not deserve any special treatment! That is why the crease is there is it not? Hockey is a rough and tumble sport get used to it! Wait!!!! Isn't this one of the reasons that people said it isn't working down South?
Eddy Shore would be disgusted with this thread!!

Eddy Shore would be disgusted with this thread!! A goalie should be able to play the puck knowing that he wont be intentionally run over like that. I think you need to give your head a shake, clearly the goalie is never going to be playing the puck in the opposing end, like seriously you need to get a clue. Making a goalie "fair game" when he is out of the crease is actually one of the dumbest ideas I have ever heard.
