What is Gary Lawless' problem?

Both have worked for the Free Press and TSN.
Both got huge Ego's .
Both like to hear themselves talk.
Both have no clue what they are talking about.
Both think they represent the city.

Scott Taylor was 1000 times better than Lawless. He really was.

I cant fathom how he got the TSN gig. If I'm in management at TSN, even if Lawless is the guy, I'm insisting he take public speaking classes. I'm also sending him to see a stylist or something to give him some tips about looking as professional as possible on TV. I'm also hooking him up with a trainer and a diet specialist.

However, props where it's due. I think DB and BE as play by play and colour have been outstanding and I say that as someone who wanted CK back.

Taylor on the Goldeyes broadcasts is downright painful, repeating what he thinks is funny 3 or 4 times a game, every game. Botj Taylor and lawless belong in the writers/broadcasters hall of shame

Regardless of whether he plagiarized an article, I think he conducted himself (on screen at least) far more professionally than Lawless does. And I say this from the standpoint of having having been a fan of both Lawless and Taylor so I'm not biased one way or the other. Taylor, regardless of whether it was a false front or not, was light years beyond Lawless is on screen. Far more polished.

Let's be clear - they both had/have a role. That is to sell papers and get people talking. You simply can't do that by writing fluff all of the time. A columnist, by default, will annoy 50% of the people 100% of the time. That's just how it goes.

As for Lawless - I do agree he went a bit far on this one.

Firstly, don't back off of your comments by saying "I didn't give them an F, I gave them a Fail" If that's the case, Gary, you're dumber than I thought. How is it that every other contributor to that show understood the question and gave a letter grade instead of a pass/fail?

Most importantly (and while I agree with him that the same people calling for his head right now are the same people that were calling for Noel's head last week) you simply CAN NOT tell your readers to 'shut up' or 'get a life'. Not cool.

If people want to do that, fine, but I doubt it gets anywhere.

The only way to do anything is to boycott those that advertise on his show, Landaus Lincoln, that deli, whatever it is, that wine store in St. Vital, Mona Lisa etc. And if you are boycotting them, then you would have to tell them why.

TSN would take notice quick if a bunch of advertisers and sponsors dropped out because of a backlash to Lawless's comments.

Anyway, apparently Lawless posts here, so we should play a game and figure out who Lawless is here ;D

Thats my point - if someone here really feels strongly that they want Lawless gone, they should contact TSN and the WFP directly. If you state clearly you won't be listening to their shows/reading their papers/not going to their advertisers, this has a cumulative effect.

Pointless to contact to the Free Press. They only like to have broadcasters from other stations removed, not their own

As for Taylor, iirc, he used a quote from an interview with a player in a US paper without credit. But he was a quality broadcaster back in the day and way better than Lawless.

I really tried to give Lawless a chance but he's brutal. And if he's the best Winnipeg has to offer, it's embarrassing on an international level. He is so ill prepared. He often doesnt know basic information about the Jets (off the top of my head I recall him gettign the team cap wrong and couple other things too).

Come on TSN, make a change.

And since Lawless does read this I am sure, people are telling you where you can improve. it's up to you to want it.
