I believe the Nordiques will return by June 30, 2012 at the absolute latest.

I expect this to be the final season the Coyotes play in Arizona.

I'd love them too, and reports and blogs and such state that a relocation is in the works.. but I don't think Bettman'll move to Quebec within the next year or so until EVERY other option has been exhausted..

Okay, so CBA expires in Sept.... the NHL and NHLPA spend the summer negotiating. Can we expect Phx to be settled before the season ends? If Phx is still stewing come summer time, what a dogs breakfast that will be. I am guessing Bettman would like to have that cleaned up before then.

Hmmm.... pardon my cynicism, but could contraction be more palatable during a lockout? If the CBA is expired, would the NHLPA have any legal standing to object to shutting down a team or two? If I'm the NHL, I'd look at where there's more money to be had. Contraction brings about bad PR, but the Coyotes situation is replete with that already. After an acceptable amount of time has passed after the contraction, an expansion team is offered up. Expansion fees > relocation fees, no? Now in the case of the Coyotes it's all the same since the League is the owner, but if there's another team with an owner that just wants out... m.

From what I heard it would cost tens of millions to refurb Le Colisee & there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in doing that. The new arena in Quebec isn't even close to being approved or under construction. If Phoenix goes, it'll be somewhere else I would think. Too bad as it would be great to have the Nordiques back in the NHL.

They are already working on plans and specifications and they are going to prepare the ground this spring . About the Colisee , some of the renovations to upgrade the building to nhl standard is planned for this summer and all the rest will start once the NHL is confirmed coming here

It doesn't sound like there's been any progress made public in Quebec. Kansas City and Seattle seem more likely to me at this point. I actually think a team in Seattle would do well, much better than the Sonics ever did. I'd prefer QC but I can't see Bettman letting another team back into Canada so quickly.

The last place the NHL would put a team is Kansas City. Look at the problems they have been having with the Sun Belt teams. KC is another non-traditional market that will never support hockey.
