i just read an article that said that they are fixing up the arena in QC no matter if the NHL comes or not, the rinks boards, glass and rest are due to be upgraded anyway. the piece had quotes from Patrick Roy who coaches the present team that plays there

I'm forced to agree. It doesn't sound like there's been any progress made public in Quebec. Kansas City and Seattle seem more likely to me at this point. I actually think a team in Seattle would do well, much better than the Sonics ever did. I'd prefer QC but I can't see Bettman letting another team back into Canada so quickly. I could put here about 20 links about the new arena and the renovations planned in the Colisée, but you wouldn't believe it anyway BTW, I'm wondering why a reporter asked to Bettman this afternoon if the major upgrades planned in the Colisée this summer, would make Quebec a good Plan B for the Coyotes... But you are right, there is nothing going on here...

I'd love them too, and reports and blogs and such state that a relocation is in the works.. but I don't think Bettman'll move to Quebec within the next year or so until EVERY other option has been exhausted.. I was under the impression that every other option had been exhausted... I second that opinion. Anyway when they finally formally announce the death of the Coyotes and the rebirth of the Nordiques, I'll drink some vodka and share with Puckschmuck in singing that song of his saying "Goodbye Coyotes!"

They will start this summer for the construction in QC, they have the Colisée Pepsi!!! Seattle: No Funding approuved and the Key Arena is not for hockey...

as of right now, i would put Seattle ahead of Quebec. Quebec has no arena right now. Seattle does with potential owners.

Your backwards. Despite your opinion I'm here to tell you you're wrong, and that's not my opinion. Quebec is the landing spot for the next available franchise. Bank on it.

Gary can't ignore the success of Winnipeg! It puts him in a good light with the other owners because it put money back into the pockets of the other owners, because no more welfare cheques to Atlanta. Same would happen in Quebec, and for those who don't know, the original Quebec Nordics lost money only one year out of all the years they played in the NHL, that was there last year of play!
These facts won't be ignored, and I really think Gary realizes it now!

Bettman does what the BOG tells him to do. And they really like Bettman because they extended his contract within the last 3 years.

And the BOGs are taking note of Winnipeg's success.. But for him to say that moving the team would make the owners like Bettman more is dumb. He takes his orders from the BOG and that means that he has thier consent to keep the team in phoenix. When the team moves it will be because the owners no longer want to prop up a dead team, not because bettman wants to get on the owners' good side.

When the team moves it will be because the owners no longer want to prop up a dead team, not because bettman wants to get on the owners' good side. Gary takes his order from the board of Governors? Actually they hirer him to make decisions on behalf of the league because they feel he is the most qualified person to do so. Ever time he makes a decision he does not run to the board of Governors for there approval, that what they highers him for to make responsible decisions on behalf of the league. Some decisions will be right some will be wrong and when wrong outdoes right then your fired, that's how big business works. When your employee makes you more money you appreciate him even more, don't fool yourself according to all the other owners it was Gary's for sight to move the team to Winnipeg and all the success rains upon him. Does he have the consent to keep the team in Phoenix or is it "your experiment did not work and now you better fix it", get the best deal you can and cut our losses. Gary's job was never in jeopardy when they resigned him, but I can tell you the owners are not happy about taking there hard earned money and investing it in a sinking ship, but they are confident that he is the best man to fix the problem.
