Not sure if anyone read this today... www.thespec.com/news/business/article/687948--quebecor-hopes-nhl-team-will-lead-to-more-content"We now have all of the tools required to focus on developing strong relationships and partnerships with international entertainment performers and the National Hockey League," Peladeau told analysts Thursday.
"Our agreement with Quebec City for the management of a new facility that will be built by September 2015 also contributes to our objective of diversifying and complementing our content offerings," Peladeau said during a conference call....sounds like Sept 2015 for the 2015-16 season...I can't really see Phx holding onto the team for that long. Thoughts?

..and another article here... www.thestar.com/business/article/1146661--quebecor-s-game-show-the-money-lure-a-new-nhl-teamIf the league decides a struggling franchise like the Phoenix Coyotes should be sold and moved, Quebec City would likely have to compete with Seattle, which hopes to lure the NBA back to town with a new arena. Hodgson points out arenas with two major league tenants are more attractive to leagues looking to move a franchise.
But both O’Reilly and Hodgson say the strong Canadian dollar gives Quebec City an advantage its owners didn’t enjoy in the in previous years, when lopsided exchange rates hamstrung Canadian teams.
“When you have a 65 or an 81-cent dollar you’re at a major competitive disadvantage,” O’Reilly says. “Now when the (U.S. and Canadian) dollars are at par and have been for a few years it’s a huge advantage versus 2004 when (the Canadian dollar) was down in the low 60s.”...I have no doubt that Quebec will get a team b/c their owner needs the content...but it might not be until Sept 2015....which means probably not the the Coyotes. So the poll question is a bit misleading: Yes to getting an NHL team in the future, but not likely the Coyotes b/c they need to be sold sooner rather than later. Go 'diques Go!!!

But for him to say that moving the team would make the owners like Bettman more is dumb. He takes his orders from the BOG and that means that he has their consent to keep the team in phoenix. When the team moves it will be because the owners no longer want to prop up a dead team, not because bettman wants to get on the owners' good side. Gary takes his order from the board of Governors? Actually they hirer him to make decisions on behalf of the league because they feel he is the most qualified person to do so. Ever time he makes a decision he does not run to the board of Governors for there approval, that what they highers him for to make responsible decisions on behalf of the league. Some decisions will be right some will be wrong and when wrong outdoes right then your fired, that's how big business works. When your employee makes you more money you appreciate him even more, don't fool yourself according to all the other owners it was Gary's for sight to move the team to Winnipeg and all the success rains upon him. Does he have the consent to keep the team in Phoenix or is it "your experiment did not work and now you better fix it", get the best deal you can and cut our losses. Gary's job was never in jeopardy when they resigned him, but I can tell you the owners are not happy about taking there hard earned money and investing it in a sinking ship, but they are confident that he is the best man to fix the problem. Sigh Betman does not have some sort of magic wand he can point at a city and make a franchise appear. Your wrong, by all means he takes orders from the BOG. When it comes to some sort of minor decision yes he can probably act on his own but big decisions, essentially anything involving a franchise moving or not, are made by the BOG. Hence: The BOG voted unanimously to reject JB as an owner The BOG voted unanimously to relocate the thrashers to Atlanta. You never call a vote unless you know your going to win so obviously Bettman knew what those results were but the point is Bettman does not act on his own. Let me ask you something. If you were the owner of a $200 million dollar franchise would you sign a cheque to pay a guy to run the league your franchise plays in and just sit back and hope he does a good job? That would be insanely stupid which is why each team has a certain level of power in the form of the BOG vote. If for some reason the the majority of people on the BOG didnt want the thrashers here, they wouldnt be here even if Bettman wanted them here.

Honestly, Hartford should get a team back. That would make me happy.

Honestly, Hartford should get a team back. That would make me happy. The Whalers were never overly successful as far as attendance goes, they had alot of years were the attendance was below 12k average. Winnipeg is a better hcokey market than hartford and the only way a team would work with less than 16,000 a game in todays NHL is to be sold out every game at ticket prices comparable to ours. I dont see Hartford matching our success.
