k,I like Selanne, but why sign him is the better question?
I dont want to get him just because he's some historical link to the past and he should be honored.Sure he may get 20 goals this season and help them get into the playoffs, but then what?where is he gonna be in five years or even two?I'd rather have some raw rookie in his place that has a 1% chance to develop and help the team in the future.

So you wouldn`t want a 60-80 point player on the team

So you wouldn`t want a 60-80 point player on the team Yes!But in a season he will likely have to be replaced,I think he could help with the younger guys on the team for a year,But I dont really see a benefit to this in the longer term for a shot at the big prize. What happens if we had to get rid of a guy who turns out to be the next Draper or Drake again just so we can have Selanne. If he was to turn up here,I'd love it!But I'd love it it because of what he did in the Peg many years ago,and not what he could do for the team in the future.

I am in the 33% range but mostly because I would love to see it happen.

The plan Chevy/Zinger have is to develop a team to compete a few years down the road. We're not going to snag some young star to play top line this year. There's none around. Selanne could more than fill the void for a season while our prospects develop in the minors or on the 3rd/4th line.

Latest news on Teemu Selanne: ducks.ocregister.com/2011/08/01/agent-nothing-new-on-selanne-decision/69645/"Selanne continues to skate in his native Finland and test his left knee to determine if he’ll be able to play at a high level for another full NHL season. The winger has also remained coy about his future plans, even with the local media that have occasionally caught up with him this summer.
Agent Don Baizley has been tight-lipped about his star client and continues to offer little in the form of updates about Selanne’s progress. When asked by the Register how Selanne is doing after his arthroscopic procedure in late June or whether there’s any new timeline on announcing his plans, Baizley said in an e-mail that there’s “nothing new at my end.”

I'm going with Not a chance.
With school-aged kids, he won't want to uproot them or be away from them for the season.
Anaheim or bust.

I remember people telling me for years that we would NEVER get an NHL team back....we did. Then when it was announced on May 31, loads of people(insiders included) were saying that they would NEVER be called the Winnipeg Jets....well, we all know the outcome of that story as well.
I'm not saying that Teemu will sign here but never say never. 33% chance

Word is that Teemu has pushed his decision date back to September 1st as to if he will play another year. I have a feeling he definitely will play for the 2011-12 season, as if he was going to retire, he would have let the Ducks management know by now so that they would have more time to trade for a scoring forward to replace him.

Sorry, gents! But The Finnish Flash is the leader of the flock in ANAHEIM... And he's already said he'll either be lacing up for the Ducks or hanging them up... So I had to vote Nay, not a chance in Hades he returns AS a Jet... But hey! If he DOES return, there's always the chance he'll be wearing a white jersey in Winnipeg once more yet- It'll just have "Ducks" scrawled across the front! (Though I REALLY hope he does come back for that one more year, he had such a great year, 32 goals will ut him at #10 all-time--and wouldn't it be wonderful if he got to play in a game between the two cities that love him more than any other place, Anaheim and Winnipeg? Teemu MADE ME A HOCKEY FAN AS A KID...the second he joined the Mighty Ducks! GOTTA love The Finnish Flash!)

Not only that, but he was on fire at the end of the season. He also scored 6 goals in the ducks 6 playoff games, and was leading the NHL in playoff goals until the second round. One memorable story I have of Teemu is when i was in Calgary working P/T at a Scottish Pub. It was game 5 in the Ducks-Sens series in 2007. The Ducks won, and ultimately raised the Cup. When Selanne got a hold of the cup, at least half a dozen men rose out of their seats, and started chanting "GO JETS GO!" It was awesome. Calgary has a large population of ex-Manitobans. All you need to do is go to a Bombers-Stamps game in Calgary to see a few thousand Winnipeg fans in attendance.

Not a chance, we all just better hope he signs for one more year with the Ducks. But even that might be a stretch. after having such a great season I'd hate to see him go out with anything less. With bad knees it might safe to throw in the towel knowing that you're last season was amazing. Hell, I'll even admit that I was hoping he was going to announce his retirement after he won the cup so he could go out a champ like Hasek and Recchi.

Here is a Selanne update courtesy of Chicago Blackhawk defenseman and fellow countryman Sami Lepisto's tweet:
"Yea it's Teemu's new one!! And he is looking good on the ice!! 41 yr old shouldn't be that fast!!"
Looks like Teemu is coming back for one more season!

We lack veterans who could mentor some of our younger forwards. The Jets also lack offensive power. Teemu would be the perfect weapon.
