Give it a couple of seasons the MTS Centre's only gonna get better True North is going to do whats right for the Fan Experience I'm assuming better sound system and board and to dress up the rafters with banners of past Jets greats, Jets History and that should bring the MTS Centre and the Jets Organization higher on the rankings list

It's also slightly better than the Winnipeg Arena.

Everytime I drive down Donald or Hargrave it reminds me of how stupid this city is that they wouldnt allow a larger footprint for MTSC.
Oh well, in 25 years we can move the arena to the place that currently houses Portage Place.

Yes there are some "Gliches" with MTSC...(dont want to be a broken record, but those washrooms gotta get remidied) However without the MTSC there is no way we would have gotten the Jets back...so you may not be perfect...but MTSC...I freaking love you!

I don't care how tightly my generously endowed posterior is wedged into my seat. If it wasn't for that arena we'd have no team. Full stop. Line ups at the mens' room? Just use the trough (AKA the alley that runs east-west just north of the Met. Everyone else, including at least one inebriated female, relieves themselves there during or after Jets games). m.

I don't think there should be anything Jets 1.0-related in MTS Centre. (and on a related note, the disgusting troughs and "The Queen" should have no part in MTS Centre either!)
You sure as heck don't see Minnesota North Star murals at the Xcel Energy Center. And I highly HIGHLY doubt you see anything related to the old Colorado Rockies NHL team in Pepsi Center (where the Colorado Avalanche play).
New arena. New franchise. New players. New ownership. New, new, new. Lets stop looking in the past. I do however love the tribute to the 1920 Winnipeg Falcons in the main concourse.

Its a new team yes, but its the history and memories of the Jets that people cling so closely to. A "Cherished Memories" bannor would be great to see hanging from the rafters because it is those memories by the Jets that lead to such a loyal and dedicated fanbase.

You know, I honestly think even Mark Chipman himself is sick of the Jets 1.0 and wants to distance our current Jets away from it. Did he originally want our new team to be called the Jets? No. He bowed to public pressure. Did he re-use the old logo? No, he created a brand-new one. Etc.
The Jets 1.0 were an extremely poorly-run sports franchise (like the Blue Bombers have been the last 15 years or so) and broke our hearts often. I'm even tired of the old logos and jerseys. Loved the team, great memories from seeing games at the old barn, but... enough is enough. Lets move on.
We've got a new team. Lets put up some Byfuglien, Pavalec, and Ladd banners up. Smail, Hawerchuk, Selanne, Steen had their limelight.

Chipman publicly stated what jersey he would like for the teams 3rd jersey (WHA Blues) True North wants to establish the new team, logo , jerseys etc, first and then honour the past. I have no doubt within a season or two there will be tributes to Jets 1.0 special nights, banners etc. probably starting with a 3rd retro jersey in 2013-14. How the team was run say by Mike Smith has zero to do with how anyone old enough to remember Jets 1.0 are remembered, I go back to the WHA and Avco Cups, but I understand the need to establish the new before honouring the old.

Agree with Donwood and maniaaron. I first began following the Jets in the WHA. I attended most of the games (mostly as a pimply-faced volunteer). I was also a long time STH for the NHL Jets.
The Jets name and its history is very meaningful for many Winnipeggers since 1972.

We're getting a little off topic now but I thought I'd chime in for a quick comment.
Slippy has some good points, I'm personally torn on some of the issues but, regardless of what happens in the future. We'll all have good memories of the old Jets and we'll have a blast making new memories with the new Jets. I am glad that the Jets name was resurrected and I don't hold it against TN for trying to start fresh a new name.
Honoring the past is good and will likely happen regardless. Pining for old things to be new again isn't the way to move forward. We need to make, as slippy said, NEW things happen... Stanley Cup anyone?

I cant speak to the Wild fan base but in Winnipeg, fans are still in love with Jets 1.0. In fact, it was that love of the original team that forced TN to call the team the Jets.
