Good news about Ladd building a home. I know he used Towes' condo last season.
Lawless said he figured a 2-3 year deal for Kane. I'd like to see a long term deal though. However I am not certain the Jets and Kane will see eye to on his value at 20 years old.

He will sign, all the crap that went on was completely made up and most people know that. There was no proof to offer anything negative and he handled it very well.
He is a 30 goal scorer and there were people on this board (who are in this thread) who stated he wouldnt even get to 20 when he had 16. Kane is a keeper and will sign here for 3-5 years.

I see a similar contract to JVR in dollars with anywhere from 4 to 5 yrs. As mentioned he and his agent realize he's not going anywhere as the Jets will match any offer. Maybe they're waiting till after July first to see if they do get an offer and use it to bargain with. Graig Oster naturally wants his cut to be as lucrative as possible too.

I sure hope you guys are right! It means a lot for this franchise if Kane and Pav both sign, and not just for the product on the ice. The "it's Winnipeg, and no one wants to play there" garbage needs to go! It's already gone, Grumpz, it's already gone. Last year we were in the spotlight and everyone watched and took note.

I really cant see it being anymore than 2-3 years. Im sure if Kane hits the 50 goals in the next few seasons that he would be wanting to be able to cash in on it.

Personally I'd vote for the option that's not listed. He signs after July 1. Just like bogo last season

Personally I'd vote for the option that's not listed. He signs after July 1. Just like bogo last season I guess I should have listed that as an option, but frankly, I figured if he didn't sign by July 1st, it was because he wasn't interested in being here, and would of received an offer from a big city for big money and jumped ship.

Hopefully we can sign Kane for $5,000,000/year. I cannot see him settling for less considering less talented players in the NHL are making more.

I don't think he'll sign by July 1st but he will be signed for next season. Wether or not we see him play is another story.

He wont get $5 million per season at 20 years old. He might want that much but one strong season does not a long term lucrative contract make.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Kane pull down 5M. And if it were over 5 or 6 years, it'd probably be good value.
If Kane does fly the coop, I think that an easily tradable, short term contract (3.5-4M/ 1-2yr) - a la Kyle Turris - would be more likely than an offer sheet. This sort of contract to me would make me wonder/worry about Kane's future as a Jet.

6 years would be nice so Ladd, pavs and kane are expiring in different years but I guess it doesnt really matter. We still have Wheeler and Bogo to get long term deals on...
