The problem for a new bar/pub opening in that location is the amount of well established competition that already exists in the area. Any new place would need to attract fans on game days to gain a foothold in the market which is hard to do when most fans already have a place they go before games, the new place would have to do something pretty huge to stand out from all of the other great choices around the MTS center. I was talking about pretty much anything, not necessarily a sports bar or dance club, as in the past. Any kind of restaurant/bar would struggle at that location, I would assume that the next time it opens it will be a retail location of some kind and not a bar/restaurant.

Maybe t will be another Tim Hortons

I think its pretty much a no brainer for a Sports Bar if the owners had a clue what they were doing. Rep means everything. You have 15,000 people in the MTSC and you cant attract a couple hundred to you bar across the street? Thats all on the management of 4Play. They should have sold to True North when they had the chance.
Perhaps they can attract a more upscale brand name restaurant/lounge in there once the new hotel/condo project is open.

I believe the problem is with the current owner. There was supposed to be a bank move in to the smaller storefront and the brewhouse into where 4 play was. I read in the Free Press that Brewhouse pulled out at last minute as the owner kept changing things, I think thats also what happened to the bank.
I agree, service food and management were extremely poor and that had to contribute to theri closing. I also think Labamba is closed and that Arkadark (or whatever in old Chocolate Shop) didn't last long at all

The Brewhouse would work. It's hugely popular in Alberta. Not sure if you are referring to this Brewhouse, but it would be great to see one in Winnipeg like Original Joes and the Shark Club.

I also think Labamba is closed and that Arkadark (or whatever in old Chocolate Shop) didn't last long at all The Problem was the staff...Plain and simple. I was there a few times for the fact it was so close to MTSC and the concept was great... Waiting 45ms for a freaking beer and having to almost tackle a server to get your order. To get food...oh my oh my it was a complete Gong Show of servers coming up to random tables asking if this was your food. The Waitresses were nice Eye Candy dont get me wrong but it seemed they were only hired for being that and were absolute horrible servers. Could never figure out how you can dump millions of dollars in opening up a new Restaurant/Pub and spend virtually no money in staff training. Been to shark club quite a few times and no matter how insanely busy it is after a game the service is always good..servers friendly, get your Wings and beer in a quick matter.

I think albertapegger might have had a mini stroke while typing that last message, either that or he fell asleep and his face slammed on the keyboard.
