I was a big Domi and Shinkaruk fan but I'm starting to lean towards Erne. Big LW with some nastiness in his character. BUT the Jets hav a lot of Lefties in the system.

I saw this brought up on twitter, Nikita Zadorov from London. 6'7 Defenseman from Russia. Does Chevy take a gamble and break away from the N.A. only approach. would be scary if he was paired with Trouba in the future.

I think there are too many good forwards in the top 20 this year to take a dman, but if Chevy does take a dman over a forward I hope it's Zadorov.

As D-men go I'm agreeing with you guys that Zadorov would be a good pick. He'll need some time to develop a bit more but lots of upside in 2 or 3 years from now. However I'd prefer Pulock or Nurse. No specific reason except that their games are more of a "known quantity".

The one thing I would caution against is the whole idea of worrying too much about positions. Given our draft slot and given the Jets mentality we are picking a guy who might not be on the team until 2015 and not a regular till 2016.
By then the team could look a lot different. Just get the best guy.

While I agree that we should always take the best player available, we really, really need skilled forwards.
In this draft, all things being equal, I would take a forward over a defenceman.

I really think they have to look at right wingers since there's so few in the system. If there's one that they have ranked within 2 or 3 spots of their third round or later pick it might be time to stock up. First couple rounds I have to agree to take the best player.

So jets don't sign Yuen and lose him back to the draft.

I wonder how many such players go back into the draft?

There are a lot of Mock Drafts with some really wild picks for the Jets but the majority have settled on 2 players. Max Domi or Frederik Gauthier You couldn't get further apart when comparing size but that's not where differences end. Domi can be compared to a Brad Marchand with a little less "pest" to him while Gauthier is more of a Jordan Stall with less offensive talents. I'll lean towards Gauthier with the way Chevy's been drafting. My dark horse is Anthony Mantha

There's potential for Jones to fall from his #1 ranking to being picked 3rd or even 4th. With Colorado already announcing they'll take McKinnon Florida has Drouin, Jones, and Barkov to consider. Jones seems the obvious choice but Drouin may be good enough to steal that pick. If Jones is available at 3 Tampa would have to consider replacing Lecavalier's centre position and Barkov would fill that role. So now Nashville has that chance to get a quality D-man to fill the spot vacated last year. All speculation on my part but stranger things have happened..

I went back through all the posts in this thread and some other threads dealing with pre-draft prospects and nobody had Morrisey on their radar as a Jets pick. Most of us were basing our picks on the Jets "template" of bigger players. I did mention Petan once as interesting because of his stats but never gave it a second thought. I'm going to have to make improvements to my scouting staff!
