Not sure about any effects on the IceCaps (re: realignment, which is necessary), but interesting nonetheless.
-The Houston Aeros (MIN) will be moving to Des Moines, Iowa. As per Michael Russo of the Star Tribune, the team will be named the Iowa Wild.
-Mind blank mania: The Peoria Rivermen (STL) were purchased by the Vancouver Canucks, with the intent of moving them to Abbotsford. Problem is, Abbotsford already has a team (the Heat, CGY), so that will be remedied by bringing the franchise back to its original home: Utica, New York. So Abbotsford gets a new franchise, while Peoria loses theirs.
There may be more, but this is what's confirmed, along with Adirondack (PHI) moving to Allentown, PA, in 2014 and taking the moniker "Lehigh Valley Phantoms".

Map for next year at this moment. NY state is a cluster blank to be sure.

If QC doesn't get that NHL franchise they're gunning for, do you think they'll try for a team in the AHL? Or will the Remparts be playing in their new arena?

I still would like to see a team in Saskatoon. Maybe Calgary will move their farm team there in a couple years.

Calgary got a sweetheart deal from the City of Abbotsford to put their farm team there.
The Flames will get bought out.
Why the Flames placed their farm team in Canucks territory I'll never understand.

Fort Mac at the least should look to get an AHL team, its not like there's anything else to do in the city but drink.

Sad to hear about the Aeros. Iowa had the Chops/Stars before they went to Texas.

I feel bad for Abbotsford. Yikes! Why? The Abbotsford Heat draw flies to each game unless the Chicago Wolves come to town (can ya guess why?). If the Canucks have their farm team in Abbotsford, the attendance will increase significantly. Abbotsford doesn't care about the Calgary Flames. Which begs the question, what will become of the Wolves?

STL will likely affiliate with the Wolves, barring someone else cutting ties.

Both Regina and Saskatoon could/should have teams. Along with possibly Fort Mac, western Canada could support almost 3 other franchises. Imagine the rivalry between Saskatoon and Regina!!

^ Fort Mac dosen't have a WHL team I'm sure an AHL affiliate for either the Oilers or the Flames would do well there.
