Did you listen to the entire show? Because I am sure for a SPORTS show, the mandate is to not talk Jets for four straight hours (or whatever it is). People in this city are nuts. So highly critical. Troy Westwood is a former athlete withj a valid opinion. Does he mis-speak sometimes? Sure he does. He's not a polished broadcaster. I used to get down on Lawless for his terrible speaking ("uhhhh, ummmm") but he's much improved. Now all we can do is ridicule him for being fat like that somehow diminishes his insight. The morning show is good. Give it another chance. The best part is the often have quality guests. if i could hit the like button more than once i would.

Didn't listen to the whole show, just the 45 minutes that I was in the car. If it struck me as good, I would have tuned into it once I arrived home. But alas it did not strike me as good. Yes Troy Westwood is a former athlete......So? Lawerence Taylor is a former athlete, does that give him carte Blanche on talking hockey? How about Richard Petty tell us some stuff about curling? Being a former athlete does not automatically make one a good radio personality. I will listen tomorrow, but I'm sure the novelty of the amateurish show will wear off by Friday.

Westwood is terrible, much like the last few years of his football career.

Tuned in at 7:30 this morning to catch the NHL Power Hour. This is where they're supposed tro tralk about the NHL for one complete hour. Its gameday vs SJS.
The Beyak and Hnidy interview was worth the listen -- definitely. After commercial they come back to Liebel, host of the show. Guess what he leads up with: some Justin Bieber TMZ report.
THIS is why I shake my head at the morning show. What does Bieber have to do w hockey? What's Liebel"s contribution to the NHL power hour?
Bieber's not even a sports story so you can't give me the excuse: "...they're supposed to be a SPORTS station..."
The show is going downhill. If u can't talk hockey during the one hour designated in your show for talking hockey, then its time to get better talent.

So Westwood should sit quietly during any discussion that isnt about football? I often agree with his hockey opinion. Most importantly, he provides an insight into the mind of a pro athlete, how they relate to their coach, how they are in the locker room etc. Being a former athlete doesnt not automatically mean you'd be a good radio personality, that I agree with. But Westwood is a good radio personality.

I knew the 90 seconds they talked about it would ruin someone's day. The LEAD story on CNN, a story that relates to Winnipeg and you question why they'd mention it? Does it bother you when they mention the weather too?

How does Justin Bieber relate to Winnipeg?
I listened again this morning. Not as horrible as yesterday, but still I'm not warming up to the show.
Troy's voice IMO is not radio friendly. I don't think he "should sit quietly during any discussion that isnt about football". I don't think he should be there period.
I liked him when he played football, many times I stood up for him in discussions during his career.
You can defend the show all day long, but to me it's very amateurish. I will still give it a shot, but I don't foresee me tuning in past next week sometime.

Bieber was racing a car, I consider car racing a sport, so it is fitting that a sports station reports on it.

He was drag racing which is sports-related. He's Canadian. I believe his father is from Winnipeg.
So what that they mentioned the biggest news story of the day briefly?
If anything, they could add a more hockey-centric person on the show, maybe one of those Illegal Curve guys.
If I have any complaint about 1290 its that their content is generally the same all day. They have decent personalities between the morning show, Rick Ralph and H&L so you're getting different perspectives but unless it was a major news story I doubt Id want to listen to it all day. I listen in the morning on the way to work, on the way home from work (at 4:00) and if H&L has something particularly interesting to me, I will keep listening once I get home.

Bieber?..Rianna?...Led Zepellin for the millionth time??.... i like the Big Show...I like Westwood too. if you dont like it, dont listen and instead "have a drink on me"....again.

anyways, back to the topic at hand. TSN1290 Morning Show continues to prove they need more hockey-expert talent in their show. If they have to resort to TMZ reports to fill a 1hr time slot dedicated to hockey, and they are not able to find enough hockey content to do so, they should at the very least invite more hockey-related guests on the show.

I actually agree it's okay to talk about other big news in sports at times, as long as the majority is on the Jets but I could do without any mention of Bieber... even though Bieb's is the man!
