anyways, back to the topic at hand. TSN1290 Morning Show continues to prove they need more hockey-expert talent in their show. If they have to resort to TMZ reports to fill a 1hr time slot dedicated to hockey, and they are not able to find enough hockey content to do so, they should at the very least invite more hockey-related guests on the show. Im sure that was it. They sat around putting the show together and no matter how slowly they spoke, it came in 90 seconds light. I had no problem with the Beiber talk. Not only was it the first I heard about it, it was funny, topical and the biggest media story of the day and had a Winnipeg connection. Nothing to see here.

I knew someone would whine about this when I heard it this morning. I knew the 90 seconds they talked about it would ruin someone's day. The LEAD story on CNN, a story that relates to Winnipeg and you question why they'd mention it? Does it bother you when they mention the weather too? Sorry, how the hell does Bieber relate to Winnipeg?? ! He's Canadian and I believe his dad lived in Winnipeg.

www.chrisd.ca/2013/11/28/winnipeg-radio-ratings-fall-2013-bbm-canada/#.UuFVhhDnaHs The below data is for the 12+ demographic w/ most recent Fall of 2013 ratings, with the Fall 2012 ratings in parentheses for comparison. 680 CJOB — 12.8 (14.8) CBC Radio One — 10.6 (9.9) QX104 — 9.8 (7.4) 92 CITI FM — 8.0 (8.1) 99.9 BOB FM — 7.3 (7.2) 103.1 Virgin Radio — 7.2 (7.4) FAB 94.3 — 7.0 (6.2) 102.3 Clear FM — 5.7 (5.2) CHWE — 3.8 (5.6) Power 97 — 3.6 (6.8) CBC Radio 2 — 3.0 (3.1) 99.1 Fresh FM — 2.2 (2.6) TSN Radio 1290 — 2.0 (2.4)The Lounge 100.7 — 1.8 (0.9) Espace Musique 89.9 FM — 0.1 (N/A) ....NOTE: TSN Radio 1290 is declining...rapidly. CJOB declined far more significantly. Im not sure I'd read too much into that. 1290 is a specialty channel and appeals to a small audience. They will always have lower ratings.

The top two stations are both old man stations. The rest of us are listening to XM radio.

The only thing worse than talking about Bieber is complaining that ever everyone is talking about Bieber.

I'm not a big NFL guy and I understand playoffs and such and that there is probably an interest BUT, It's all just getting a little long in the tooth for me. At a time when the team is playing pretty damn good too....

I guess we're a pretty spoiled bunch these days.
As an adult hockey fan in the Jets 1.0 days, we had no internet, no Sirus radio, and only Vic Grant's 1.5 hour sports show on CJOB to get our info from, and most of that show was littered with commercials. Hell, to get late scores, I relied on the "25 after the hour" updates.
We now live in the glory days of sports media, and we have total control of what we listen to, who we follow on Twitter etc... Yea, the Big Show is kinda mediocre, but it still fills a void, and will likely get better in time....Just like the Jets themselves.

Tsn radio is in trouble.....you cannot survive on a 2.0 share especially with the cash your putting out for the Jets rights....

And furthermore what's really troubling is that these ratings are for the fall period when hockey is back with a new season. I'm afraid for them in the summertime when the Jets aren't playing....

Back in the day, to get the late scores I'd come home and watch The Score, which at the time had no video. It was text scrolling up the screen. if you missed a score you'd have to sit there and wait for it to scroll around again.
Regarding ratings, while Im sure they want to be better, the 2.0 represents the entire station. They might (and I assume do) get significantly higher ratings for Jets hockey. Also, keep in mind, they serve a specific audience. If you have a limited advertising budget and are in a business best marketed towards 18-35 year old men, are you advertising on CJOB? BOB? Or TSN? Thats the benefit to Sports.
In Television, Sports properties are the only thing increasing in value and they are increasing in a huge way. People generally watch Sports live, they dont tape it to FF through the commercials and they dont flip away during commercials.
And ofcourse, TSN1290 is apart of a bigger company and the Jets' radio rights are apart of a bigger package. I wouldnt worry about TSN.

Paul Edmonds joining the Big Show (with Liebl and Westwood). That's great news - he's excellent. Have been very surprised with his hockey coverage, assumed he would be "just" a baseball guy.

Apparently he did minor league play by play in the winters?? He was better than Munz when he filled in for him and if true that he is joining the big show, well that will really help I guess he will be the host then?

Yep, just read he's giving up the Goldeyes pbp duties (tough break for Fish fans...) and I assume he slides into Richardson's slot.
Like I said, I was surprised at the depth of his hcokey analysis, on top of filling in for Munz he has done some pre-game stuff. Great radio voice too (if a little unconventional).
