Hellebuyck comes up big. US defeats FInland 5-1. Helle made 29 saves, going 0.967% I do not see how Hellebuyck is not playing for the Jets next year. Pavs proved he can play decent...Thinking Hutch is gone..Pavs starts next year and Hellebuyck fights him for #1 Disagree. I foresee a transitioning trio period to wind down Pav's contract. I would never bet that they'd give up on Hutch after one season - a season in which the role he played got us into the playoffs. m.

Hellebuyck with a shutout, as he improves to 3-0-0, and a 0.973% for the IIHF Worlds. I'm starting to lean towards trading Hutch or Pavelec (and retain some of his salary), so that Hellboy can start for the Jets. No way this guy fails at the NHL level.

Jets should go with Hellebuyck and sign former Ice Cap Beskorowany. He's a big athletic goalie who helped carry the Ice Caps into the playoffs last year. Would love to see 2 big guys like that blocking our net.

I believe Pavelec has two more years on his contract.
Barring a spectacular pre-season, I see Hellebuyck playing at least one more full season with the Moose.

Connor Hellebuyck continues to play awesome for Team USA at 2015 IIHF worlds. He is now 4-0 with 0.75 GAA, a .969 save percentage and 1 shutout.
I wonder what number he will wear with the Jets since his number of choice is 37?

And since 37 is not officially retired I say he should be able to wear 37 w/ the patch to honour Dan Snyder or he goes with 73.

Like I said, When he makes it, not just called up. Eric O'Dell still wears 58 when up with the Jets, not his number of choice. Scheifele wore 45 until he made the club. Trouba switched to 8 when he made it.

The Jets said they would continue to honour Dan Snyder, who wore #37. I believe Rypien also wore #37 for the Canucks, unless I am mistaken. Unless I am mistaken, nearly all goalies wear either low #'s or #30-39. Regardless, Hellebuyck is listed as #30 on the Jets website.

Tomorrow is the big test for Hellebuyck. He will be facing Russia in the Semi Final. He will also have to face Ovechkin, as for some strange reason, he will be allowed to compete tomorrow, two days after being eliminated from the playoffs. Should be a great game.
Canada will have a rematch with the Czech Republic. Traditionally, Pavelec does not play great, when everything is on the line, so I suspect Canada will win 5-2.
