Here it may not be his agent as much as his family wanting him to get out. Oh poor Trouba....the family doesn't like Wpg? Please!

yep, it would be foolish on Trouba's part to take it to the max but I think he is a fool, so I don't see him playing this year.

I've always been a little Leary about drafting Americans much rather have Europeans as they are happy to be in the league no matter where. I can see same thing happening to Matthews....sure glad we got Laine.

I'll be shocked if he's a Leaf at 25. He's bolting as soon as he's a UFA if not sooner. Posted w/ Grumpz D-vice

Any truth that the true reason Trouba wants out of Winnipeg, is because his old man has a criminal record that denies him entry into the country?

I can see same thing happening to Matthews....sure glad we got Laine. I had a bad feeling about this when the Jets drafted Trouba. It's the same feeling I had re. Kane, but to a lesser extent. I agree. The Jets should take into consideration whether a player will likely fit with the market. It's not worth the headache. While a generalization: other things being equal, I'd draft a Scandinavian over a Russian or USA player - but it really comes down to the individual and the Jets should fully vet players they draft (including asking them point blank in predraft interviews whether they'd have an issue playing in the market long-term).

I'd rather them draft, develop then trade the best player if they must, then pick players that aren't as good because they'll stick around, that's my opinion anyway. In the long run, it'll pay off, well it should Posted w/ Grumpz D-vice

I find it odd some fans wan to make him sit, while he team flounders and the asset depreciates. Ok, maybe the team is not floundering, but you get my point. time to move on.
If Chevy is trying to acquire a similar player, I recommend going about it another way. Maybe trade other assets (Stafford, Little, pics...etc..) for D help, and trade Trouba to replenish the forward crop. Expecting to trade Trouba for (young hot NHL ready D) is likely not happening IMO. Too difficult to make that kind of deal as we can see.

I like the approach but at the same time, we do need some guys on the roster who've posted more than 40 games. Posted w/ Grumpz D-vice

I don't think Chevy is locked in on replacing Trouba with a "similar player" at the expense of a good hockey trade. And that's a good thing. The Jet's depth on D was questioned by many with Trouba in the lineup so it is just assumed that he must be replaced but I guess I'm not convinced that Chevy won't improve this team by adding a centre for eg. ,depending on Little's injury status. Obviously I will concede adding even a second pair D is something every GM wants , I guess I'm saying the Jet's roster seems to allow for more flexibility in a possible trade than many would expect.
