Maurice stated a person has to earn being on that line. LOL. So Maurice, scoring 36 goals the first year and 44 the second doesn't earn him that spot? What a load of bunk. We know part of this was to supress the talent and asking price which has now occurred. It's time Maurice stop the game playing, put Laine with Scheif if the Jets want a future with this kid and put Ehlers on the left.
Wheels should go at center on the second line. Whatever.
Basically, there's now no excuses about suppressing value and no impediments of pairing him with the top center.

Maybe but I doubt Chevy would tell Maurice directly how to make up his lineup. But this is where Maurice is a smart dude and he sees the numbers and it becomes evident once he does the math that he will compromise and risk losing Laine for the math. Great way to coach. |

Watching Laine in the playoffs made me feel that Coach Maurice knows best. Laine was a better player overall in the playoffs than he was the year before.

I remember waaay back. A skill player named Ducky thrived with 2 grinders named Hopkins and Maclean. Try Laine with two diggers to get him the puck. My vote however would be to put him on the first line.

Laine won't screw anything up. Play him where he belongs. Top line. The only one who can screw this up is Mr 500. Mr Maurice. Maurice should of been fired for not stapling his ass to the bench the 2nd half off season. Didn’t deserve to play at all let alone on the top line. He doesn’t deserve to play there and shouldn’t until he shows he does. Theres a reason it’s rumored Scheifele doesn’t want to play with him. |
