I think the MTS Centre needs to change the mesh guard rails in the 300 section to glass to improve the sightlines. I just visited the staples center in Los Angeles and they have glass or plexi glass as a security rail along the balcony in the upper bowl. You have a totally unobscured view.
Anyone know who we can make the request to at True North for this? I'm sure some of you agree with the obstructed views. The more people we get, maybe something can be changed.

I have a vested interest in this as well. Those mesh railings at the bottom of the stairs are a ridiculous obstruction for some seats and should be changed to plexi-glass.

I had an entire thread about this complete with email addresses of all True North employees that could have an impact. I'll try digging it up ..
Also, they should make a policy whereby the ushers would prevent the "front row" patrons from leaning forward over the rail. When the 1st row is leaning forward, their heads block half the ice of the the 4 rows above them!

Im sure they have been hearing about this for years.
My only thought as to why it was never changed, would be some type of Manitoba building code.Could be a safty issues if someone was to fall into it and it breaks or pops out,(it would have less give or flex then whats used in the rink) scattering debris and possibly a person on to the ppl below.Im sure they would face a lawsuit if that happened.
I know they have plexi in the lower bowl, but its not as high to the ground, and I dont think they have seats below it from what I remember in the seats I've used.

When the 1st row is leaning forward, their heads block half the ice of the the 4 rows above them! That could be hard to enforce for a a couple of reasons. First it would be saying that people in rows 2 and on have the right to see but row 1 has to put up with the bar and not see. Not sure how you decide who gets to see and who doesn't. Second if you enforce leaning forward, you would also have to enforce no one standing during a game ever as it blocks people behind them. Third what do you say to a guy who is 6"6 and a little kid behind them that can't see? I know it sounds harsh but I just can't see how you could enforce a rule of no leaning especially when they have a bar right in front of them that prevents them from seeing. I don't think their is a easy answer unless they change the style of bars and mesh.

Sting - I fully understand what you are saying, and I am certainly not talking about "casualy" leaning forward; that would indeed be impossible to enforce. What I am talking about is people in the front row full out leaning (using both forarms as a rest) so far forward that if the guardrail wasn't there, they would topple over. No other row behind them can lean that far forward because people have nothing to lean on. Someone pointed out in another thread that the ushers are quick to discourage this in the lower level because it does steal half the ice of those sitting behind you.

The whole upper bowl is a mess. The washroom and concession situations are ridic.
Good thing I am so euphoric about even being in the building.

As posted in another thread, I thought the bathroom lines were long but moved very quickly, they do need a few more concessions up there tho.

Don't worry.
I am sure there will be additional renos to the upper concourse.
I mean, the upper bowl used to be curtained and closed off most of the time.

I was at a game at GM Place during the Olympics last year sitting in almost the top row of the upper deck. Every row has a rail in front of it and painted on each rail is a simple message, "Please do not lean forward."
Maybe something as simple as that on those rails in the first row would be a gentle reminder to the people in Row 1 not to do that. I doubt it occurred to any of them that they were screwing things up for the people behind them.
