I thought a new thread to talk about other series going on while we focus on the Jets playoff run.
So I see Reaves got suspended for 2 games after taking a few shots at a goalie and a prone Graves in the 3rd period of the first game. All in the name of retaliation for a Graves hit on a LVK player. From what I saw he should have received a hearing at least for cross checking Suter in the back and into the goal injuring Suter in Game 7 of the previous series. The DoPes is having a hard time being consistent from no calls to Nasim Khadri's 8 game suspension. Some have implied a bias towards LVK by the NHL and is protecting the Knights. Hmm. Meanwhile things look relatively tame up here in Canada.

Reaves is one of those guys who seems to get away with quite a bit of dirty stuff...yeah like that dirty hit on Suter. Kadri is flagged as a repeat offender, which explains his well deserved 8 games imo...but Reaves not really classified as that type of repeat offender. He plays more on the boundary of what's legal I guess. And maybe NHL still apologizing for that game 7 major penalty they called on them a couple of years ago that theoretically cost them the series against the Sharks. That was first time ever I can remember NHL apologizing to a team (pandering) after a bad penalty call...maybe it's happened before, very very rarely? So maybe you're right, NHL goes relatively easy on them. Of course no expansion team in history had such an easy birth, not in NHL, probably not in any sport.
For sake of Jets, I hope Vegas beats Avs but I picked Avs in 6. Islanders in 7. Hurricanes in 7.

Well here we go CDNs against LVK. The buzzsaw that is Las Vegas versus Canadians patience. Should be high tempo. Early views show Habs can keep up and in fact push the Knights.

Good game as a fan of hockey. Fast and intense. Big CDNs D pushing around Knights and on the other end fast little Habs doing their best to put pressure on Fleury. Armia had some good shifts too.

Relentless pressure pays off as the Habs are down 4-1. Price can't stop them all. Habs will need to slow down LV and get more opportunities or it's going to be a difficult series for them.

After watching Vegas/Habs, Jets are dillusional to think they played well against Habs. Both teams tonight outhustled, out-thought, out-everythinged anything I saw the majority of Jets offer up. Unfortunately next year will be another stale result by one of the most underwhelming teams in the NHL. The vitriol coming from Jets fans is a product of their frustration with the team’s lack of, effort, desire, smarts, same-old-same-old wash, rinse and repeat. Looking forward to Blue Bomber football to help forget my utter disappointment with the NHL Jets.

Tuesday morning ramblngs... Watching Vegas GK I see a prime example on how to build a playoff team. Fast, big, and downright nasty. Hacks trips charging gloves and elbows in the face hockey. They are also a prime example of what's wrong with playoff hockey. Regular season rules are almost non existent. Most of the highly skilled teams are gone with Tampa the exception. The cup winner is now determined under a very different brand of the game than what is played for the majority of the year. Not a good long term plan. How much longer are fans in markets like Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Colorado, and yes Winnipeg, going to stay interested in a system where their regular season success is thwarted by a suspension of rules in the playoffs?

Watched most of today's TB vs NYI game. Both teams competed hard. TB was much faster and broke the trap frequently and got some good goal tending. The Islanders got jobbed on 2nd goal when TB had 7 men on the ice and no call. But they were the better team tonight. The effort both teams players made in both ends of the ice was impressive. There was no coasting or letting the other guy handle the problem. In fact Coach Cooper said his team has to play with desperation. Imagine PM saying that down one game to MTL last series. If I remember right he said they were in a good situation or something like that. Maybe because it's like your toughest critics are family, here I judge the Jets as wanting, compared to the 4 teams left in the playoffs. The remaining teams just flat out want it more and are trying harder, faster and consistently play at high level. They will not be content with making it as far as they did!

Cheering on the CDNs in the game tonight. Even though a few reprehensible players maybe on the team, especially Corey Perry. Speaking of which, he was involved in Armia's goal which opened up the scoring. Go Habs.

Classic road victory for MTL. Kept the lead. Kept the crowd out of it until the last 5 minutes and got real lucky on some saves, bounces and LV miscues. Stone missed the net a few times when wide open. Game on!

Yeah Habs played a good game and Knights got off to a slow start...partly due to Habs keeping them off balance. Probably the only Canadian team that can compete in size and aggressiveness with the Knights and it shows...the defense is holding their own. I kind of have the feeling the Knights were sleeping a bit in this game and will steamroll but hoping tonight is a sign of a close series to come.
