Kind of an interesting interview. The interviewer certainly isn't the most knowledgeable about the NHL but in some ways it makes it more interesting.

Saw that the Manitoba Moose lost a couple more players to the German league, as forwards Cole Maier and Tyler Boland have signed contracts overseas. A sign that Winnipeg management is acknowledging the fact that they will have a lot of forwards in the AHL next year. Here's a look at the 12 (13 including one RFA*) forwards currently signed by Winnipeg that the Moose will likely have to fill the 12 available spots when the regular season begins:
Harkins/Toninato/Limoges* Malott/Lucius/Lambert Torgersson/Nikkanen/Chibrikov Bongiovanni/Zhilkin/Reichel Ford
That list includes 7 players in the 19 to 22 yrs old range. so while Maier has been fun to watch in the AHL for the past 3 years, he and Boland would just be taking ice time away from true Jets prospects.
The defense is a bit more skaky for Manitoba next year, with the only sure things being LHD Kuzmin and RHDs Lundmark & Bauer. Chisholm may be there if he isn't included in an offseason trade, but he also needs to clear waivers so could be snatched by another defensive needy team. The other possibility is LHD Heinola, who won't need to clear waivers to be assigned to the AHL next year, but I figure he'll be in the NHL next year, probably not with the Jets.
Goaltending should be okay, with the possibility of going with the duo of Salminen & Holm again or maybe just one if Hellebuyck gets moved.
And that doesn't include any possible prospects received in the upcoming trades. So while I am a bit leery about how good Winnipeg will be next season, I am looking forward to watching the Moose.

The Athletic ran two pieces - Best value contracts on every team and worst value contracts and the Jets snippet is as follows:
Best:
2022-23 Best Performers Relative to Cap Cole Perfetti 2.1 $0.894M 1 Dylan Samberg 1.7 $0.925M 0 (RFA) Josh Morrissey 3.4 $6.25M 5 Dylan Demelo 1.8 $3M 1 Pierre-Luc Dubois 2.7 $6.25M 0 (RFA) Best contract in 2022-23: Cole Perfetti
You could certainly make the case for Josh Morrissey as the Jets’ best bang-for-buck contract considering he played at a star No. 1 level on a $6.25 million cap hit. Luszczyszyn’s model leaned toward Perfetti, however, because not only did he score 30 points in 51 games on his ELC, but he had stellar two-way metrics, including an excellent 1.71 goals-against-per-60-minutes rate at five-on-five, one of the best marks among Jets forwards.
Dylan Samberg had a solid rookie campaign, although like many third-pair defenders, the model is probably overestimating his ability.
Pierre-Luc Dubois scored 63 points in 73 games and was a strong play driver — $6.25 million is great value for a top-six center of that caliber.
Worst:
Most Inefficient Contracts in 2022-23 Neal Pionk 0.1 $5.875M 2 Blake Wheeler 1.8 $8.25M 1 Neal Pionk: Pionk looked off this year. He only scored 33 points in 82 games, the lowest points-per-game rate out of the four seasons he’s spent in Winnipeg. More concerningly, Pionk’s defensive metrics were very poor — he didn’t move the needle as a play driver in the top four at all.
Blake Wheeler was very good. He scored 55 points in 72 games and held his own from a two-way results perspective, but he’s obviously not the prime version of himself who could play up to an $8.25 million cap hit level.
My thoughts:
Well, $6M , 55 SHOULD be our best value contract but alas, the defensive slug did not rank. Great to see Perfetti and Samberg in that mix. Kavacevic was the 5th best value contract on the Habs. Trouba was the worst value contract on the Rangers and Myers was the second worst on the Canucks.

So I was going to watch Mr. Lambert play in the Junior Finals. With the TV on I nodded off for a little nap and I woke up (yes, I am woke) and I heard a strangely familiar voice kinda droning on. But pausing when he should, not talking over the play, when a player is scoring for example. Could that be Sawyer?! It is Kevin Sawyer. So that is what he does in the off season when most of us, hockey players and broadcast guys included, are golfing! He doesn't have to take away from the game if he tries.

Cheers, 2b9👍 During the Juniors, the hockey people mentioned that he fit the Andrew Copp mold....a defensive center that has some offensive abilities. He scored well for the Swedes in the tournament, but didn't have much offense when playing against men in the SHL this year. Probably a Moose to start, but hopefully he develops. Manitoba should be interesting to watch this season.

Hopefully he develops into a Jet mainstay at some point. Hopefully as said, another Andrew Copp, Jets could use another Andrew Copp. At the very least, a fill in for the Jets. 2b9😃👍 Weird situation myself response to your post, this site is a little different/weird, thought that I responded separately to your response, it then became part of the original response from myself. Cheers BOJA😃👍 Hey Ric O, did I do something wrong?

You just clicked in the wrong spot to respond and ended up typing your stuff in the same section my "quote" was in, rather than the lower section your response was supposed to be in.

Yeah 2b9, seems like BOJA said, somehow you ended up with your cursor in the quote space and were typing in there rather than below the quote frame where your response would go. Check it now to see if it looks like what you were going for. I think so!

The NHL’s first buyout window opens today June 16th and ends June 30th. Let's see if the Jets start clearing the deck.
