Winnipeg put Delia, Capobianco, and Jonsson-Fjallby on waivers today to get to the maximum of 23 players. That means Stanley and Chisholm are the 7th and 8th defenders, while Gustafsson is the lone extra forward. Given the options they would have been considering for waiving, I think those are the logical choices...I actually like both of these players but I see them being least likely to be picked off waivers so maybe helps to maintain some 4th line and defense depth. Especially need the depth on defense where we have more bruisees than bruisers. Agreed. All good points👍.

Greasy Bettman said the other day that next years salary cap will liklely be $87-$8*M and the Sabers just re-signed Dahlin for $11M a year. This will give all teams more breathing room and this will create the ability for either us or others to sign 55 and Helle, which should enhance thier tradeablity this season.
I am hoping we see better overall effort consistently through the season from this group but if we are sitting in a playoff spot at the trade deadline and Chevy does soemthing dumb like ADD assets then we could lose 55, Helle and Nino and prospects all for naught (given this team has like a 0.5% chance of winning the Cup). It just cant happen. If 55 and 37 are not signed (and I am not sure it is smart to sign either) we HAVE to trade them.

V. H. according to Bones underwent successful surgery on his ankle, Bones states that recovery time is 8 weeks, then day to day.
That’s great news for V. H. and the Jets👍.

CapFriendly hasn't completely update the new Hellebuyck and Scheifele contracts. We know they are 7 yrs @ $8.5M, but Helly has a no-trade clause for the first 3 yrs, then a modified trade clause (10 team no trade list) for the remaining four years.
Scheifele's contract has no trade protections listed on the site yet, but it is listed as an unconfirmed signing so those details could come later.
Hellebuyck's contract is the exact amount I predicted, though I only suggested a 6 yr deal. I wouldn't have re-signed Scheifele without on-ice proof of an attitude change, but if he returns to being a point per game player it won't be terrible in the early years on the extension.

Yeah, it will be interesting going into year 4 of each’s contract as to: Are they each worth the money? I’m thinking that Helly will be okay all the way through his contract, not so sure on Scheif. We shall see.

CapFriendly now showing that Scheifele has a 10 team no trade list for the final 4 yrs of the deal, nothing in the first 3. Not sure if they are done updating, but if nothing does change, at least 55 will be easier to move in the next 4 seasons, if need be.

No protection in first 3 years of the contract, willing to bet that he gets traded at the end of year 2 of his contract extension, maybe even at the end of the first year of the contract extension, some of our prospects should be ready at that point/2 years from now, Scheif’s production will still be decent and will make him somewhat attractive to someone, we will see what happens after year 1 of the extension or at the end of year 2 of the extension, at the very latest somewhat into year 3 of his contract extension. Thinking that he will eventually be traded.

BREAKING NEWS: Jets just signed Helly and Scheif to 7 year contract extensions, see the story on Illegal Curve! Too bad we don't have a thumbs down button. We need need an other algorithm choice. Only a positive choice sucks👍. I think 37 is a thumbs up but as the Emperor ( of my household) 55 is a 👎. Jets need some protection as speculated about, otherwise it will be the same old same old.

We shall see, nothing to worry about right now. At the very least at this point, no more speculation, will make for a better season for the Jets without speculation going through the Jets dressing room including adding stability without the thought are they here or not here. Looking forward to the Jets season with positive thoughts, albeit with angst. Cheers, 2b9😃👍 P. S. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, Gobble-Gobble😃👍
