Predictions on the upcoming season is pretty much a staple of everything surrounding the business of hockey...i.e., predictions from every betting site, hockey show, website and rag, not to mention hockey pools that thousands of fans participate in, where fans predict which players will produce the most points. Nobody knows what's going to happen but you put yourself out on the limb with a prediction and either you're right or wrong...that is a sport in itself, and personally I find it a value added part of being a sports fan.
Well I think we need a predictions thread!

Well, still pre-season, but not much for me to get enthused about. Ottawa has a fast team with skill and aggression. Most of our skaters couldn't keep up. I think the lack of talent in the bottom six will be a problem again. We might be seeing a few Moose guys up before this season is over. My prediction for the season. Middle of the pack. Bubble team. Same old same old. Disagree with you on the bottom 6, this is probably the best bottom 6 that we have had in numerous seasons/years. It’s difficult to say where the Jets end up by the time the season ends, the season hasn’t even started yet, let’s see how the season starts and end’s before you make a prediction/maybe yourself can make a true prediction based on 65%-70% through the season😉. And maybe after that point, your prediction would be fruitless based on circumstances, you just never know what is going to happen. Your prediction at this point is fruitless and makes no sense, let the season start, let it proceed as the games go on, let’s see where the Jets are at 60-65 games. Makes sense to me. How about yourself? Have a wonderful evening👍! Cheers, 2b9😃👍 So, what you're saying, if I follow, is that I should wait and see how good they are, before I offer an opinion of how good I think they will be? Look up prediction in the dictionary. The emphasis being on the prefix pre. Dude. I don't have a crystal ball. I watched them play and I'm not excited. I think they will be a bubble team, maybe a wildcard. I could be wrong. I could be right. Don't let it bother you. I'm often wrong.

I'm more concerned that Chevy's going to convince him to re-up and overpay him. Tie up $8 mil in cap space for 5 years or thereabouts. He's not getting the huge bucks he wants anywhere else. We've got some new blood, but it's not enough to put this team over the top. He's an asset. Turn him into players that can help this team win a few years down the road. Build a team that doesn't rely on a goalie to bail them out. We've got some quality goaltenders in the system. The "win now" idea is nice. Not realistic. Same goes for 55. Get your best return and build something. You have some good points here, however, you cannot predict the future, how in all honesty would you know the future? Please let us all know, if you are correct on the future, I will buy a lottery ticket based on your foresight. Not trying to rub you the wrong way, not trying to p you off, just being honest on my part from what I see at this point, we have many points to go as the season goes on and including ending. Have a wonderful evening😃👍! Cheers, 2b9😃👍 Like, what??? See response to previous post above. Honestly, I can't predict the future. Right you are. Duhhhh.

No biggie, guess we will see how the season progresses, I just don’t like making predictions on Hockey/NHL, season is so long, ya never know what is gonna happen, injuries, chemistry, trades, etc.

Predictions during preseason are fun. Until the puck drops everyone is right. Lots of optimism and little reality. Like all the teams are going to win the SC. Well except the Leafs. Now if you're a serious bettor that is a different gig but on here it's all good.

Jets will be a middle of thee pack team, hovering around the final playoff spot again this year, flip a coin they or may not make the playoffs. Trading Hellesuyck and Scheif for assets may help them. Brossoit should be the starter in my view.

I like to bet on sports. A bet is basically a prediction where you put your money where your mouth is. And then you wait and see what happens. You win some, you lose some.
Pre-season prognosis is opinion. I'm not getting all hyped up over a few new roster players. I've suffered with this team long enough that I feel I have the right to be negative. We will see.

I'm GUESSING 3RD in the Central. but they could just as easily be 2nd or 4th. It's a really tough call this year.

I guess the discussion on Heinola is answered for now. Bones said its not a short term injury. Poor kid just had his best camp and preseason and now this.

Fracture ankle for Heinola...out 8 to 12 weeks. Tough break for the Finn (no pun intended)
