The rink sucks. Pain in the ass to get there after work and then you get crammed in like a sardine can. Then the screaming man telling us to make some noise . blank off…. also the drum beating … blank off. After all that, the jets usually suck. Glad to know that you are such a positive person😂🤣🤮.

Yep, we are not the only ones, I’ve said it before/No one believed me, well known fact that other major markets/NHL teams are struggling with attendance. Thanks for posting this👍.

It's apples and oranges. Who cares about Buffalo, Washington and San Jose. Calgary's getting a new rink. The Saddledome is horrible. Not selling out a rink that holds just over 19000 and not selling out a rink that holds just over 15000 is hardly a valid comparison. CLC is a small NHL rink to begin with. Therefore, it's a more troubling issue in our city.
There's ups and downs in a lot of markets. The vast majority of the league is doing OK and some teams are thriving. Jets averaged 14000 last year. Season numbers are more telling.
To me this just reinforces the fact that you have to have to put an entertaining product on the ice, or fans will find other things to do. Jet fans have been tremendously patient. A winning team will bring them back. If and when that happens. Hopefully.

11500 for the Vegas Golden Knights? Our playoff nemesis with 4 Manitoba boys on the roster? 500 of that is probably VGK friends and family.
And it was a pretty good hockey game. That is downright scary. Just wow. Even the Vegas boys were shocked.
There's cause for concern, folks.

Attendance is an issue. When there was talk about the Jets coming back I didn't think they would because of the lack of corporate support. And now it is raising its ugly head. There are teams that have %40 of their seats purchased by businesses. The Jets are at about %15.Theres the biggest issue.
I will also add in that many teams go through this. But it seems only in Winnipeg does the conversation go immediately to moving the team.I remember commentators saying there was a max 5000 fans at a Panthers game. Buffalo? San José? Arizona year after year after year? Calgary? Ottawa at one point? and on and on. But only in Winnipeg does the talk immediately go to moving the team.
There are issues. Jets ownership definitely owns the lions share. Add in the lack of large Corps here, the current economy, covid, team performance, and yes, Winnipeg/ Manitoba itself and its a big hill.

This is an all or nothing problem with a worst case scenario......
If the Jets left, you may as well as abandon any hockey in Winnipeg all together,
I wouldn't be paying to watch the Moose who would likely be the farm team for the reborn Atlanta Thrashers or Houston Aeros.....
Would you?

Interesting article in the Sports Business Journal. I'll post it if I can. They say the season ticket base is down around 9500. Walk ups are more casual hockey fans. Inconsistent to say the least. You can't count on corporate support. They make business decisions with zero passion.
The possibilty of the team relocating is not imminent. But we are seeing some historical similarities. Not even in their final season, when fans knew they were gone, did the Jets 1.0 have 4000 empty seats in the decrepid old barn.
I guess what it comes down to is this. And obviously, ownership asked the same question in last year's sales pitch. Is Winnipeg an NHL city?

The reality is that the Jets have teased and disappointed their fans for years and management shows little interest in being anything but a mediocre team for the foreseeable future. Being a competitive team has consequences and being a fringe team has consequences as well. Every time the team comes out and goes through the motions without an expectation of winning or even competing, they lose several more hundred fans who feel that they have been cheated.

Absolutely, track. The fan support for a bad team has been admirable. Recall a couple of years back when the talk was about Jet mgmt. being complacent, because we were just so happy to have the team back, we'd put up with anything. There was a lot of talk to the effect of, well, the only way to get their attention is to stop buying tickets. I'd say we've got their attention. But, it's kind of a danger zone. Where do we go if the team crashes and burns again? Or even just stay middle of the pack? It's becoming easier to understand why they needed to avoid anything resembling a rebuild. That may have been a coffin nail. Too much doom and gloom. They'll bounce back.

So I'm actually thinking of making the trip to winnipeg for a game this year...anyone have any recommendations for dinner or things to do in town? Google best restaurants and things to do in downtown Winnipeg closest to the the Jets Arena/MTS Center. Hope that this helps. For attractions, you definitely want to check out the “Museum for Human Rights”, it’s at the “Forks of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers”, it’s a must visit, right downtown close to the Arena, also a very cool historical shopping area adjacent/The Forks, there is also the “Museum of Manitoba” including the “Planetarium” right downtown, Museum of Manitoba has the original ships that initially explored Manitoba, I think if not mistaken, “Non Such”, don’t quote me, I could be wrong on the name of the ship, however, whatever it’s called, it’s at the Museum of Manitoba, right downtown Winnipeg, you gotta check out the Museum, also, just out of Winnipeg/very short drive, check out “Lower Fort Garry” original Fort, goes back to the 1800’s, early 1800’s if I am not mistaken. Cheers, 2b9😃👍
