BC product Dylan Coghlan is reportedly being dealt by the Hurricanes to the Jets according to Elliotte Friedman. The 6β2 right-shot defenceman is an RFA. Still no word on what Winnipeg is sending back to Carolina. He played 59 games for the Golden Knights during the 2021-22 season and then spent the last two seasons in the Carolina organization. In 2023-24 he played just one game in the NHL with Carolina and 61 in the AHL with the Springfield Thunderbirds. As per Tony Androckitis of Inside AHL Hockey he is saying the return is a conditional 7th round pick. Good buy low price paid by the Jets to get a player that they likely think has more to show in the pros. Right now it seems that Winnipeg has a lot of players who require waivers to go to the AHL (17 forwards, 10 defensemen, & 3 goaltenders), so that is at least 7 players the team will be risking whenever they send them down. Does that mean the Jets have further moves they plan to make?? One thing for certain is that there will be no more buyouts, as neither Winnipeg player eligible for arbitration bothered to file, thus the team doesn't get a 2nd buyout window. Here is the Winnipeg Jets depth chart sorted by waiver-required & waiver-exempt players:

Two mediocre players who were drafted highly but now easily replaced.Β Depth pieces. Cheers, 2b9πππ I don't mind this as the deals are reasonable and Stanley's at least a bigger dman. I think he can still get better as well with more ice time and confidence. Gustafson is not horrible and knows the system. We just need to hope that with experience they will improve.

The Jets absolutely need players like this. Every single NHL team has players like this.(Former Jet and Stanley Cup winner Kevin Stenland for example). They are also being paid accordingly. I'm not exactly sure why these signings could draw negative reactions
