Two mediocre players who were drafted highly but now easily replaced. If it's that "easy" why hasn't it been done ? Because Chevy.

Hey Tracker👍: Some Draft Picks workout, some Draft Picks don’t workout as thought/they become Depth Players, some Draft Picks don’t work out at all/then eventually they are gone. Every Team in the NHL experiences this. So, what does “Because Chevy” mean? I’m not understanding your point, just looking for some clarification from yourself😃👍. BTW Tracker, I’m not trying to be or being disrespectful to yourself, full respect to yourself from myself, just asking a simple question to get clarification👍. Cheers, 2b9😉😃👍

The cap hit for Monahan is very reasonable what is not is the length of the contract, his age, and his injury history notwithstanding this past season. If he could have signed with the Jets for three it would have been worth it but if he insisted on 5 I'm glad Chevy said no if the Jets were given the option.

If a given player is here, it is because Chevy chose him, and if a weakness exists, it is because Chevy has chosen to let that stand. To my view, ownership has given him carte blanche and whether the team succeeds or fails is on him I found it very interesting that when Maurice left, he went directly to ownership rather than talking to Chevy, and would seem to indicate a schism between the two and may be at the root of the Jets' mediocre records.

I agree with everything that you stated, and yes, the length of the contract is too long. Cheers, 2b9😉😃👍

Disclaimer: This is all in my head I have no basis for this or read anything specific about it.
I think the Jets and Hurricanes are working on a deal to send Ehlers there and Necas here (plus other parts likely including the recent Coghlan trade for future considerations).
Necas wants to play his natural C spot and can’t do that in Carolina; things have soured there for him and Carolina needs some soles and scoring.
On the 5% chance I am right - you heard it here first lol.

Totally forgot that Bryan Little's NHL contract expired as of July 1st, but Illegal Curve is probably right in suggesting that Winnipeg should bring him back to retire as a Jet.
2nd in most games played for the franchise (WPG-ATL) and 4th most points. Wish the end of his career could have been different.

Agree 100% that Little should be retired a Jet. I'd be very surprised if TN doesn't do that. Haven't heard how he's doing, last I heard he was still having effects from the injury, but hopefully he's gotten back to feeling more or less normal.

Interesting...listening to CJOB on Illegal Curve because they were going to talk to Colin Miller and some McGroarty info popped up too. According to McIntyre of the Sun, the Jets are not the only NHL team frustrated by McG's demands for an NHL spot and a certain amount of playing time. He reported that the Jets were pretty close to a trade last week, but after the acquiring team spoke to McG's camp they were unwilling to meet his demands. Not exactly great news if the rest of the league starts thinking he is a problem child for Chevy's ability to get good value in a trade, but I think being patient will be the best path forward. Let him play in the NCAA this season and see how he sees thing after. Some other interesting things mentioned in the discussion included Connor Bedard's parents telling the Hawks' coach that they weren't planning on getting their son a place to stay in Chicago until they were sure he would make the team. Supposedly Richardson told them to go ahead. But shows the humility a generational talent like Bedard was surrounded by when compared to McG's perspective (a 2nd to 1st liner potential). Also on the Hawks, recently read an article saying that young prospects were no longer guaranteed NHL ice time going forward...not sure if that includes McG's buddy Nazar or not but I am struggling to see how his camp sees this scenario as a positive for him. illegalcurve.com/jets-at-noon-conversation-with-recently-extended-winnipeg-jets-defenceman-colin-miller/Haven't got to the Miller part, but you can listen yourself on the link above. The McG talk is right off the bat, but Miller interview starts at 18:45.
