I certainly hope that the Coyotes give back the history to Jets 2.0, but I was wondering if anyone else though that they shouldn't; new era, new team, so therefore we should create 'new history' so to speak?
PS. Sorry if it's been announced that they already will do, just delete the thread, I've been MIA for the past month or 2!

I think we should have our history back but not have it be applied to this new team.
Almost like considering the original Jets had folded and this is a new Jets team. In that way.
You might say "what's the point?" considering we already have the name and even the rights to all the old logos, etc. I just think from a historical perspective young fans may like to see and view the old Jets stats in the current Jets media guide.
As far as honoring our history TNSE can do what they want with that. The NHL will not stop us from showcasing the old Jets with banners honoring players, banners with the Avco Cup wins and so on. We can do all that.
Speaking of the Avco Cup, it is worthy to note that the Coyotes did not retain the statistics of the WHA Jets because the NHL never recognized those records (they are not present in their media guide). The history and stats of the WHA Jets never left Winnipeg. They stayed right here along with the final Avco Cup.

If by some chance someone breaks the rookie goal record, when they mention Selanne, it will always be that he did this with the Jets, not the Coyotes.
I don't care what the official records are, as far as I am concerned the history resides here. I personally don't care about the Thrashers history either.
The way I look at it is the players were traded, they have their careers stats so far with Atlanta (and any other teams they played for) just in this instance the entire team was traded.
No way do I think kovaluchuk was the leading scorer for the Jets, it's Hawerchuck

Unless you are a fan of encyclopedias and sports trivia quizzes, they can keep the stats.
We all know who played here in this city for the Jets, when, and what they mean to us. Don't need a book to tell you that...
I don't know, arguing over stats seems to me like something southern on the fence hockey fans would debate about. Its like they are trying to show they know hockey and what they are talking about...

Its not like TNSE can't have a page or two write-up on the history of the original Jets team in the media guide. They can do that including publishing pics of former Jets players. In fact I would expect such a thing. I have an old 87-88 Jets Media Guide and while they had (up to that point) publsihed all current Jets stats -- they also included stats from the WHA Jets. That of course was the hockey club's decision to put that info in there despite the NHL not officially recognizing WHA stats in their own record book. TNSE can even choose to ignore the Thrashers history though still have their records posted. Yet you won't see a Thrasher logo or pic anywhere.

No one in the entire NHL cared about the Thrashers for 10 years, and now we're supposed to embrace their history? What history? No one outside of the 23 people in Atlanta care. The NHL didn't even care about the Thrashers.

even the fans inn Atlanta didnt care. lets be honest here. They ( the fans of ATL) keep throwing the full blame onto ASG. bad ownership, i agree, but when the fans stop going, it becomes their fault. they knew FULL WELL what would happen if they stayed away, yet did it anyway. so yeah,...i also couldn't care less about the Thrasher history.

Those of us who remember the old Jets can't have those memories taken away. That history will always belong to us, even if the books read otherwise.

I believe when the Coyotes move next season, their history will transfer back here. QC will want nothing to do with it anyways!

What makes you think the Coyotes would ever in a million years "give back the history" to the Jets 2.0? The Coyotes will never, ever "back us back our history". It was never even a thought of theirs.

'I certainly hope..' Again, Hope. I never said there was evidence, I just hope. The reason I THINK they will is because the Yotes are a time-tomb waiting to explode, their days are numbered and I just think it would make logical sense to the NHL that, as they've given the Jets back pretty much everything else, I just figured the history would follow. That's just my view, I won't be too bothered if they don't, as the others have said, those who love the jets will remember the history, whether it be in a book or not.

To me the only history that is important is my memories of Jets 1.0.
What is in the Jets 2.0 media guide as the "history" is insignificant to me.
