NHLWinnipeg, is that an official Coyotes promo? Or is it a photo shp?
Interesting if it's official, maybe that means we get our official history back at their home opener

It's also their center ice logo. No whiteout for the opener this year...didn't they do one last year? And yes, I like where you are headed with that observation. Time will tell...

I love how Todd acts all high and mighty over the Coyotes' one ice performance. I mean the way he talks you would think the Coyotes are a perrenial power house. Last season the Coyotes finished with 19 more points than the Thrashers, the Thrashers were being run by one of the worst ownerships in league history and still managed to compete. Lets see how the Coyotes do without a star goalie stealing games for them now.
But really its funny Todd takes so much comfort in the Coyotes play, there a playoff contending team just like the Jets but the way he talks you would think there one of sure fire playoff teams like the Wings.

^ the Coyotes overachieved last 2 years due to a) players buying into Tippets' defensive system, b) having one of the best regular season goalies in the NHL and c) some good luck with their underwhelming free agent signings. To make the playoffs everything had to go right basically. And they made the playoffs and more by winning the most 1 goal games and OT games in the league I believe.
There is no way that is sustainable. At least it is highly unlikely especially now that Bryz is gone and your vets are aging rapidly. There are a few brights spots in players like Yandle. On the other hand, we don't even know if Turris will play (and he hasn't really performed as a #3 overall pick to date).
I certainly do not see the Coyotes lineup being superior in any way to what the Jets are putting on the ice this year. We have better young players, a better young goalie....not to mention a better home crowd. I really think Todd does not realize what I have written above and believes the Coyotes are a great team. It shows his lack of hockey knowledge imo. He will likely be very disappointed. Barring a miracle, I don't see the Coyotes making the playoffs.
BTW: I have the Jets finishing anywhere from 7th to 12th spot in the Eastern Conference.

The west is competetive, I think the Coyotes will like the jets be in the hunt for a playoff spot most of the season. But yes for some odd reason Todd seems to think that the Phoenix Coyotes are god's gift to hockey. If he hates hockey maybe they are Oh and NHLWinnipeg finally we agree on something

One of my friends from Vancouver, upon learning that a friend of his was going to Phx to see the Jets on October 15 commented that Phx was the armpit of the dessert and he hopes he never has to go back there again. I've not been myself, but passing along an observation from someone who is not invested in either the Coyotes or the Jets.

My God, people, where in anything that I wrote have I ever said that the Yotes are God's gift to hockey and that they will run roughshod over the NHL?
I'll while you're at it, where have I ever put down the city of Winnipeg other than to toss a few jokes here and there to sound like the typical ugly American? Some of you need to relax: heck, I've never even insulted your beautiful parks.
This thread was about attacking the Yote's relevancy. So I attacked back that they are no less relevant than the Jets outside of your local excitement for finally having the NHL back in your city (and more power to you in that).
NHLWinnipeg, yes I am perfectly aware that out underrated team making the playoffs the last 2 seasons had much to do with Tippett's defensive system. So, what's the point? That's his system and that's how they play.
One point games? Yes, that will happen when you play a defensive strategy to protect your less than stunning offense. Getting points in OT games and shootout wins? Well, last I heard thats perfectly legal in NHL hockey.
Luck with underwhelming free agent signings? I call that smart GMing. Turris holding out? What do we lose? Yes, I would love for Turris to have signed a long term contract to continue his development with the team, but he hasn't exactly led us into the playoffs the last two years: he served most of them in San Antonio.
Yes, Bryz's loss is going to hurt. But that's what is going to make this an exciting season! Let's see if Burke can work the same magic with a perennial backup that he did with Bryz (who was a perennial backup when he came here). Good thing Tippett's is a defensive system, huh?
And to the person who said the only relevant team is the one that wins the cup, I say bullhockey. Relevance does bit mean best or champion. Is only Boston relevant this year until the Cup is handed out? Of course not: they are the reigning champions until the Cup is next handed out.
As I've said in the discussion thread I started here weeks ago, the Coyotes will have a better season (on the ice) and achieve more points than the Jets. And to those of you ego think 19 points is 'only 19 points', if you know hockey, that's a lot of damn points to be down in the standings while trying to he relevant.
-TODD. 15 more! 15 more!

And I am an Ugly American who insists on multiple typos in each posting. So enjoy those above. It's like a game: figure out what Todd REALLY mean to say with the word 'ego' etc. Todd plus IPhone autocorrect equals chaos.

I am glad you are a passionate fan, I wish there were lots more of you in Phoenix. I believe that the Jets will have more points than Phoenix this year. The loss of Bryz is really going to hurt. We shall see.

19 points is a Crap load of points. But if the Jets win 5 more games than they did last year, and the Yotes win 5 less games than they did last year, the Jets will have more points. I'm not going to predict anything, but I don't rule out the Jets being better.

In Winnipeg Todd would only be able to afford P7's. Actually he wouldn't, as the Parking and food would be too much for him.

Phoenix has not improved in the off season. They got worse while most teams in the West stayed the same or improved. I'd bet my finest piece of whale blubber, and a complimentary stay in my luxurious vacation igloo that the Jets finish 19 points ahead of the Yotes this year.
Yotes finish 14th or 15th in the West this year and will be in the 1st round draft lottery next year for sure.
The bright side being that you can put all the money you save on your season tickets down there towards NHL Centre Ice and watch the Jets.

Don't worry about what I can afford. If our tix suddenly mirrored the Jets' popularity and prices, I would still be in my same seats ready to roll each night. And I wouldn't have to worry about the luck of getting online to buy them.
And for those reminding me how tough the West is and how the Yotes got worse while the other teams stayed the same or improved: good thing they don't play the season on paper, huh? If they did, Vancouver would have been handed the Cup last October and the riots could have revved up that much earlier.
I heard the same stuff last year when we lost Michalek; we hot worse. And yet we made the playoffs again, and were slaughtered in 4 with much help from our favorite Russian nature lover.
Don't worry, as the preseason progresses, I'll make sure to remind you all how hockey seasons are played out on the ice, and how the most interesting players become those who rise above expectations. Yet again.
I hope you enjoyed your preseason. Time to play the real games now.

Which gets you a Coyotes ticket. And from watching the Glendale City Counsel meetings, it also appears to be the amount of money the typical Coyote fan spends at Wendy's.

This thread was about attacking the Yote's relevancy. So I attacked back that they are no less relevant than the Jets outside of your local excitement for finally having the NHL back in your city (and more power to you in that). You don't really pay attention to hockey outside your little market and the news on Winnipeg do you. There is a huge amount of excitement coast to coast around Canada for this Jets team. If you want to ignore that, thats your problem, but don't push your ignorance on the rest of us. I love this comment from you. The reason why you don't pay top prices or will never have to worry about the luck of getting online to buy is because you don't have a hockey market to worry about. I guess thats a plus for you? Really don't understand how what your saying is a good thing for you. Its like...HAHA Winnipeg, you have a hard time getting tickets cause your city rocks and you have thousands upon thousands of mega hockey fans and we don't so MUAHAHAHA. Way to get us on that one!
