Its sad that the only link left to the original Jets franchise is acting like this. Actually Bruce Southern is a Pro Scout for the Jets now and he was both a scout and assistant coach for the Jets 1.0

I wonder if he is feeling that his role was safe with the Moose. Money was not a issue for AHL. Now he is in a different league were building through the draft is something he has never done.
Could be he is not happy that he is no longer the number 1 guy.
Might be he feels he won't be taken serious by the top level NHL executives.
Who knows what it is but he is definitely negative.

In Zinger's defence........he was in charge of the Moose all those years; those are his players, he will be running the Ice Caps. Sometimes it takes a little longer to get over an old flame, especially if her leaving wasn't our fault

zinger says alot of what he does becasue he loved the moose and while they were around alot of people in this city said that AHL hockey sucked, the moose sucked and that they wouldnt watch anything but nhl hockey. He still holds a grudge about that.

He still holds a grudge about that. What was he going to expect? As great as TNSE ran the Moose, they were still an AHL team and the farm club for the Canucks (a former rival of the original Jets). It wasn't the NHL. We didn't get to see the greatest in the world -- or even showcasing our very own greatest (ie: Hull, Hawerchuck, Selanne) for nearly three decades. So, what was he expecting from that?

yea but the people who said that ahl hockey was crap clearly never went to see a game, there were alot of people who claimed that WHL hockey was better which was so wrong. He was just tired of people putting the moose down without going to a game.

Zinger always seems annoyed when he talks to the media..... does he not know how to smile.
his line about how the Jets left because there weren't enough people in the arena is BS.
I think the average ticket price back in 95 was $30.00. If we filled the arena for every game we would have generated around 19M while the team salary was already 21M. The arena itself had poor sight lines, obstructed view seats and the...... upper deck....... not for the faint of heart.
We all know there were many many reasons the Jets left. The place that I would chose to lay the most blame would be WEC.
It's all good though..... these things had to happen in order to get us where we are today.
GO JETS GO!

He was just tired of people putting the moose down without going to a game. I went to a handful of Moose games and don't think it was all that good. If I had kids it would be perfect to be able to take them to watch a pro hockey game at a decent price. But it's no where near the level of the NHL and that's why I only gained a marginal interest in the product. I don't agree that WHL hockey is better. I would say the absolute best players in the WHL are better than the best players in the AHL. But on average AHL players are clearly better.

I alluded to Zinger's comments in the original Fueled by Passion thread, and his disdain seems very obvious. I don't know what drives his bitterness but he needs to be kept out of the public eye until he can masquerade said bitterness more effectively.
I don't believe he's alone at True North in having that negative attitude. A number of people (mostly front-line staff at TN) have led me to infer, from coded language and carefully selected words, that they are less-than-happy about this move to the big leagues. I don't know if it's the added workload, the long hours the summer must have demanded, the new level of scrutiny they're facing as an organization, but they're not fully on board with this. They're all rowing in the same direction, they're just not happy to be doing it.

Fully agree with the OP, have had several conversations with friends about this. Also does he not now how to smile?
I fully support the Jets, TN, and wish Zinger all the best and I'm sure that he'll make the most of this oppurtunity but he does need to get over his moose boner.

This is the NHL -- DEAL WITH IT. Why these folks would feel unhappy about joining the big leagues is very weird. Consider the organization you work for just got a BIG promotion. That's no cause to be unhappy.

Somebody needs to go into the audio vault and get interviews with CJOB and Heisinger before the Jets announcement.
I do recall him in many interviews shooting down the idea the NHL was ever coming back.
