Milt Stegall was great and there was nothing mediocre about him. I'm still wearing his jersey to the games this year. And while we didn't win, every game I went to was exciting and the crowds were awesome. Um, I didn't say that Milt was mediocre. Read my post again. If I ever wrote or said anything like that, I would say 100 Hail Marys and whip myself 1000 times.

So if a good QB has good receivers, it means the QB sucked?
Khari was a VERY good QB for several years.

No, but it's pretty obvious that if your career ends immediately after leaving the best receivers and running game in the league, you were a chump. The Bombers made him look good for a few yrs, the. He was done. Good QB's, the real ones, have real careers, not a handful of seasons.

That is the absolutely most simplistic view of the situation. I am sure there are much smarter Bomber fans than me who can give you all the stats etc to back up the fact you're crazy if you think Jones was no good.
We had a brutal O-line his last season or so and he was on the decline as all great players experience.
I can see one season of a great team making an average QB look good but Jones was very good. Most Outstanding Player in the league.

Most Outstanding Player in the league. Sorry, I guess the 2 yrs on the bench in BC, the whopping 5 yrs as a starter with WPG, and 2 yrs trying to catch on with another team and failing miserably, mixed with a carreer 85.2 QB rating didn't win me over. He never won the big game, never could...even though he had the most dynamic backfield in the CFL for 2 yrs in Roberts and Sellers, and the best receiving core the game had. It's not like his career was only 5 yrs due to injuries. Chump, chump, chump.

Read my post, please, I was saying that Milt was great. And not mediocre. Plain and simple. I would never think that anyone would be foolish enough to say Milt wasn't an amazing player. No need to take offence.

Yeah, but you could see how I would have thought that seeing that it followed directly after my post and seeing that operative term "mediocre" was used in both posts. But... I am glad you think that I am not a fool. Milt rules. We both agree. Anyone who argues that is, indeed, a fool (oh, the arguments I have had with many BC Lions fans and their claim that Geroy is the best ever).

The numbers Khari put up in Winnipeg speak for themselves. As for not winning the big one, it's a team game. Ask Milt if Khari was a chump.

How many GREY CUP WINS did these guys lead us to? NONE. Zilch. Nada.
In an 8-team league (not 30 teams), that's really the only stat that matters. Championships.
And the Bombers haven't made this city proud since 1990.

There is a big difference between not winning a Grey Cup, and not doing anything though. And your comment about fans still supporting the Bombers is an insult to all Bomber fans. A true fan doesnt just stop supporting thier team because they havent won a cup.

That's true, but it's not the only reason I hate the Blue Bombers. They are a horribly-run sports franchise. The Bombers have let Canad Inns Stadium basically fall apart. They've handled the new stadium horribly (HORRIBLY) since day 1. There are more drunks at Bomber games than sober people. The ownership has been a complete mess for over a decade.
The whole franchise is just so .. so.. juvenile. Bush league. That's not a knock on the CFL, which I find is very high quality football. It's a knock on our ownership. I really wanted David Asper to take over this team. What's so great about "community ownership" anyways? It sucks!
And the worst part is, die hard Bomber fans don't care. Can you imagine if Edmonton went 23 years without a Grey Cup?! The fans there would be furious. But Blue Bomber fans expect so little from this franchise, few seem to care- or even notice.
Canad Inns Stadium could collapse (upper deck falling onto the lower deck) and these same fans wouldn't care - or even notice. Certainly not complain. It's like... just because this franchise has been here for 80+ years & just because your dad/grandpa had season tickets DOESN'T mean we should just blindly support this team.
The franchise has been in desperate need of a makeover for decades. And that "new" logo that looks like it took about 30 seconds to design wasn't a good start.
The Blue Bombers are in the midst of bumbling and stumbling their way through a 23rd straight disappointing CFL season. And I'm very, very glad I'm not a die-hard fan. Because I would have been very, very upset these past 23 Novembers !
And all die-hard Blue Bomber fans can do is offer excuses. Excuses, excuses, excuses.
Phew! quite the rant.
