NOTE: This poll isn't asking about our eventual 3rd jersey (which IMO, should be something all-new), but rather the eventual jersey the Winnipeg Jets will wear at our "Heritage Classic" hockey game at Investors Group Field. Date of said game is TBA of course, but you know it's going to happen eventually.
And also please note that you're not necessarily voting for that exact jersey design in the poll, but rather what could be a very similar looking one that honours the franchise.
This is a jersey that will be worn by the Jets at Investors Group Field likely one time only, similar to what the Calgary Flames wore at their Heritage Classic game in Feb. 2011.

^ It could also turn out to be like the Washington Capitals, Pittsburgh Penguins etc. and turn into a third jersey if there is enough fan interest. We're going to get one or the other first. If we have a 3rd jersey by the time of the Heritage Classic, it will be a one time thing like the Flames because they already had a third jersey, but if we don't it will prolly develop into a n alternate.

I would prefee that we honor the WHA Jets, but, I'm good with whatever True North decides to do.

I hope we stick with a Jets jersey from the past. I love our current home and away jerseys and the logo, I just think it would be cool to honor the past Jets because they are the ones who will be playing in the game (Even if we wanted to use the Thrashers players we can't get the rights to their name/logo). But if the only players left who are able to skate are from the 90's might be a good idea to go with that logo, because its the one they wore.

Nothing connects with Winnipeggers more than the AVCO cup winning teams from the 70's. In a dream world we would see that uniform used for the classic.

I know I've said "stop trying to constantly honour the past!" BUT every single NHL team that's played in an outdoor game since the concept was introduced in 2003 has done so.
I feel Winnipeg has already honoured the 1979-1996 Jets plenty (what little there was to honour from that time period), and True North themselves have done so by naming our new team the Jets.
So with that being said, I feel the Victorias OR the Falcons should get their due. I mean c'mon. The Victoria's won the Stanley Cup 3 times. The Falcons were the first Olympic Gold Medal hockey team! I think the Heritage Classic is perfect time to honour them.
I won't be incredibly upset if the Jersey is similar to the 1972 or 1973-1979 Jets, but every other team that's played in an outdoor game has gone wayyyy back to the past as their team of choice to honour. Winnipeg merely going back to the 70's (to me at least), states to the rest of North America that we really don't have much of a hockey history before the 70's- and that's simply not true.

Where do I say I hate everything Winnipeg? I LOVE the Winnipeg Jets. I LOVE the Winnipeg Goldeyes. I love MTS Centre. I love Shaw Park. There are 10,000 reasons to hate the Blue Bombers. PM me if you're interested in hearing them. The only ppl that love the Blue are ppl who think they're supposed to, ppl who have been sth for "X" amount of years and always renew no matter what, and ppl who have been a fan for so long they're completely blind and ignorant to how this sports franchise operates. There I said it. And I can't stand those of you who think True North should constantly bow down and worship and honour Barry Shenkarow, The Winnipeg Arena, Winnipeg Enterprises, Doug Smail, Thomas Steen and everything about the 79 - 1996 Jets who never won anything by the way- and were an extremely poorly run sports franchise. Also if you're one of those people who think we never would've had the Jets 2.0 without the Jets 1.0, please, explain to us all in detail, how Miami, Columbus, Nashville, and Anaheim all got NHL hockey franchises. Thank you.Get it now?

Sounds like you let stuff bother you too much... If people wanna love the bombers, let them... If people wanna talk about the original jets like they were the greatest let them. We are all titled to our own opinion so why Condem them if there opinion is different from yours??

^ No still don't. You enjoy a team because you have someone representing you in the big Leagues. The NHL was run a lot differently between 79-96 in which only ownerships with a stockpile of cash could win a Stanley Cup. Barry was an idiot and part of the reason the first Jets left, but yes, the Jets old fanbase was part of the reason the NHL was so comfortable bringing a team to the city on such short notice. The Bombers have made it to more Grey Cups than any other team and are 3rd in Grey Cup wins. Hardly seems like they haven't ever done anything.

Ok, back on topic guys. This is about what jersey the Jets will wear at the Heritage Classic game at Investors Group Field. A jersey they'll likely only wear once.
I'm curious as to why some of you would choose the old Jets jerseys... is winning an Avco Cup a greater achievement than Olympic Gold or the Stanley Cup?
I think a lot of you picked the 1973-78 Jets because that's when your fondest memories of the Jets occured.

I'd go with one of the 3 Winnipeg Jets "eras". Personally, I prefer the jersey in the 90s... however, when it comes down to pure facts (and "honouring" something), I understand that the 3X Avco Cup champs makes a lot more sense historically. To echo a little bit of what Slippy said, for those that lived through the entire duration of the team (starting in 1972), the fondest memories were probably during those years. I wasn't alive at the time, but it makes sense.

While a few players that played for the Jets in the 80s could still be able to play (such as Steen & Hawerchuk), the list may be limited. And Steen did play many years for the Jets in the 90s. As for the Avco Cup champs... they may be too old to participate. But who knows. At the very least, I'm sure they'd honour them at the game in some shape or form (if and when we host a Heritage Classic game).
