Well, I don't have to tell you what to do with salt when something comes from the mouth of Eklund at hockeybuzz
Anyway, if you want to hear the latest, Eklund is claiming there is a contingency plan for a team other than the Phoenix Coyotes to move to Quebec next summer.
I'm guessing Florida or Columbus would become the suspects if you eliminate Phoenix. Anyway, here's what Eklund had to say (remember to apply salt as needed ;D)
www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/Source-Quebec-could-get-an-NHL-team--Not-the-Coyotes-Should-they/1/37721
This just in via text.
And it goes along with an article today by Lisa Halverstadt of the Arizona Republic that claims former Sharks founder Greg Jamison is heading up a group to buy the Coyotes and it is "looking good." There is "cautious optimism." (always has been my favorite kind of optimism)
Again, while my hope is the Coyotes remain in Phoenix because I never like to see a fan base lose its team, I am told this is a far way from being definite. And for those of you who are "understandably skeptical" given the history here I can only say...fingers crossed.
There were many in high places who were predicting a similar scenario transpiring this coming summer that would inevitably end up with the Quebec "Nordyotes"playing in the Pacific next year. I am told by several sources not to expect that scenario.
However, I did just receive a text from a very trusted source in these matters stating, "Like there was a contingency plan that happened in the Winnipeg situation, there is also an internal contingency plan that could very well find a team back in Quebec in the next few seasons...but that team is not the Phoenix team. There is another team slated in that plan."
What's the Buzz?
1. Should the NHL return to Quebec?
Rumors to come.
