Jets lose another prospect as Leon Gawanke signed a 4 yr contract in the German DEL league.....they will retain his rights like they have with Vesalainen, but that probably won't mean much.

Gabe Landeskog has announ ced he will miss the entire upcoming season (career in doubt now), so this would be a golden opportunity to trade either 55 or PLD to the Avs as they will want another center and they will still be in the hunt. Too bad about Landeskog. He was a great player and his loss torpedoed the Avs chances of repeating a Cup win. As you speculated, there is a very good chance his career is over and Scheifele would be of interest there. I would prefer to see him in Philly, though. Bit of irony here if he goes to Philly. The choice in 2011 draft was between Scheif and Sean Couturier Ducky of course pushed Scheif and they went 7 and 8th Couturier going to Philly. Couturier has had all kinds of injury issues the last few years: 721 GP G 180 A 280 PTS 460 +82. Couturier 723 GP G 272 A 373 PTS 645 +46 Scheifele

Another depth piece mishandled. Heinola Mikey E Johnny K etc Who's next ? Chisholm ? Harkins. I'm not saying these guys are all stars but guys that may have a better attitude at least. The whiny core remains.

At this point, better to put some younger D on the Moose to develop.

If the Jets had a bigger & better defensive core, I think guys like Gawanke & Chisholm would have a better chance at making the team. It's much easier to slide a non-elite offensive smaller d-man into the lineup when you're top 4 defenders are really solid. But Winnipeg's RHD depth chart is not very deep. Without Gawanke, that will likely leave Simon Lundmark as the top guy on the Moose with Tyrel Bauer next. Possibly Elias Salomonsson comes over from Sweden and/or the Jets sign current Moose Dean Stewart.

I am so peeved off with the Jets organization regarding Johnathan Kovacevic. I don't know if I'll ever forgive these morons. Draft and develop. 4 seasons with the Moose. His final season with the Moose +23. Big,tough strong man who is as intimidating as hell. Screw the Jets and their phony draft and develop punchline.

A large part of that failure is trying so hard to win in the “Wheeler window”. That cost is is draft picks and a few development guys.

There's been alot of anger and negativity towards the Jets on here lately.( rightfully so ). So before Darlyn has to come in and straighten us all out here's a more uplifting conversation between Hustler and Shane Malloy on the draft and our prospects.

Unfortunately they were wrong. Every team has had players get away like that. It sucks however.

Nothing to do with this year's draft prospects but I went to the Ice/T-birds game last night and I was really impressed by Lambert. Two exceptional teams with high level talent and I thought even in that mix he was a standout.

This really should be an interesting off season. There are alot of teams that had below expectation playoffs. Toronto, Oilers, Boston, Colorado.....that will be looking to shake up their lineup. There is no excuse for Chevy not to be able to move the players that are creating issues in that room ( and on the ice). It's obvious Wheeler is a problem. It's obvious you can't have Scheif deciding he prefers to play a different style of game than the rest of the team. You can't let your other 1/2 center Dubois( who is hit and miss anyway) walk next year for nothing. Add in Helly being on an expiring contract. 4 situations that need to be dealt with. None can be ignored. But as I said there seems to be alot of teams that will be wanting to shake things up. There's no excuses anymore.

After all, this is not 'fantasy' hockey
