Ugh....that is pretty sad. Thanks for the link. **Maybe it will be with Wheeler on the visiting team? Wishful thinking...** I dunno. There's nothing on the actual Jets Twitter feed about it. I was mistaken when I thought that. Or on the Jets website. It could be somebody playing. I guess we'll see. If it's legit, I'm sure the team has written in a disclaimer just in case he's gone. Thanks for the tip Sarge...never heard anything about this. Project 11 is a good cause and all but what a bizarre timing for this contest. I was sure it was fake when I couldn't find it on the Jets Twitter feed but it is on the NHLJets facebook so it seems real. Yet it seems so poorly promoted I'm still kind of wondering!
Well assuming it's real, it doesn't necessarily mean Wheeler will be staying. By the rules, the sponsor can substitute any of the prizes for something of equal value or greater value at the sponsor's sole discretion. So I would think it could end up being a Lowry meet and greet or something.
Prize: One (1) Winner will receive a 2023-2024 Gameday Experience With the Winnipeg Jets consisting of: (i) Round trip airfare for two (2) to Winnipeg, MB (maximum value US$1000) (if address used to enter sweepstakes is within 200-miles of YWG then the airfare portion of the prize will be forfeited); (ii) One (1) hotel room with a two (2) night stay in Winnipeg or surrounding area (maximum value US$900)(if address used to enter sweepstakes is within 60-miles of YWG then the hotel portion of the prize will be forfeited); (iii) Two (2) tickets to a Winnipeg Jets home game during the 2023-2024 season (maximum value US$600); (iv) Signed Blake Wheeler Jersey (maximum value US$200); (v) Signed game-used stick (maximum value US$300); (vi) Meet-and-Greet with Blake Wheeler; the “Prize”. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Prizes are non-transferable and non-refundable, and no substitutions will be made except as provided herein, in the Sponsor’s sole discretion. All expenses not specified, including, but not limited to taxes, title, registration and insurance, are the sole responsibility of the Winner. Sponsor’s decisions regarding timing and location of delivery of the Prize are final.

The epic fail of the Winnipeg Jets GM was failing to be pro-active during the 21-22 debacle. Trade value would have been premium to clean house at the deadline, or offseason. The future of certain players and their commitment was obvious. He ran it back and here we are. I saw something on Twitter from the Jets about some kind of contest for next season. Win airfare, tickets, meet Blake Wheeler and get a game used stick. Anyone else see this? Is it for real? Say it isn't so. I just went back and found it again. Looks like it's for real. Wheeler will be in charge of the dressing room for one more season. We have much to be optimistic about. I'm sure Bowness is feeling all warm and fuzzy, knowing his loyal leader will return. Wheels will not be back with the Jets this upcoming season. We get your point. Heard you the first time.

Good stuff pulling that up Ric. That's informative. The disclaimer is there. The equal or greater value part could be fun, if Scheif and Dubois and Helly are gone. This Jet organization? Wow. Just really out of touch with the fan base.

Well we're right in the middle of the buy out and nothing yet. Given their history and particularly with Wheels their prima donna % of it happening maybe quite small. Maybe they'll try something at draft time and if they can't swing anything ( e.g. retaining max salary under the CBA) pull the trigger on a buy-out🙄

Only in Winnipeg can a player throw the coach under the proverbial bus, and get the PR VIP treatment. Coach Bowness now firmly knows where he is in the organization's hierarchy.

I would like to amend my previous statement. I said that Chipman might be part of the problem, and now I am certain that he absolutely is. Local media and national media have been unanimous in their criticism of Cheveldayoff's management of the team and yet he still in in the GM's chair. I cannot recall any GM in the NHL who has screwed up so badly and criticized so much and still kept his job. If vultures are not roosting outside his office, they ought to be.

Keep in mind also that Chippy is privy to all of the player conversations at year ends so he is well aware of the locker room issues for example. He CLEARLY has shown his only goal is to make the playoffs each year and try and squeeze out playoff game revenue.

Perhaps Chipman is the undisputed catalyst of not at all caring for the fanbase but loves money more than anything! What a flipping mess this is with Three to four major players basically saying i'm out of here?

I thought he would've walked after he got flattened by the players like a toon on Roger Rabbit! I believe he would stay only if he received assurances that the team and its dynamics changed, that is. While it maybe crickets right now I sure hope, that like the proverbial duck, it's feet are paddling like crazy.

Wheeler comes out of the locker room like a boss being of course stripped of the captaincy by coach. Gonna get a little payback as he unites the team behind him to undermine the coach's assessment. All weak @ss.

I really, really hope that Bowness has some iron-clad guarantees about the composition and culture of the team. He may not be Scotty Bowman, but he ought to be financially comfortable enough to walk if he wants to. Wheeler and his troupe basically gave Bowness a big FU in the post-season interviews.

Very true, but there cannot be a single player that could have watched the Cup final and said they put the same effort in that those 2 teams did. RB's comments stand - this team, as a collective, were playoff wimps. I am sure RB knows which players are or want to play his system and which do not. And yeah, he can walk away becuse he said he was essentially retired before his gig.

It all depends on who Chevy brings in. Remember, those 4 players don't want to be here, and 2 of them have been linked to the stench in the locker room. For instance if the LA trade rumour is true you're bringing in 2 big men. If you can get similar returns for Scheif and Helle then this becomes a very different team. A big team, a physical team, a defensive team, a team that is built for playoff hockey. Now if you draft players that fit the same mold you will have a big mean team for a few years.
