Hello again dear puck cheerin' chaps, from me and my HUGE Jets fans, from way over here in quaint England across the 'pond'! I'm having a very difficult time at the moment, with life getting me down alot sadly....but if there is ONE thing that is giving me that HUGE'uplift' and 'engine thrust' at the moment (nice little witty ditty's about Jets, eh?!), it is the EYEPOPPING first rate performence of our GLORIOUS AND ATTENTION GRABBING JETS! What a GREAT season this is looking now for the Jets! It's win after win after win, including superb wins against the mighty Bruins and Av's!!! Solid defence, hot tasty strong paws from the likes of Hellebuyck, laser precision shots from all directions in the field! I have only one more thing to say today about our grand hero Jets, and it goes something like this: Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee - HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Do we have to invite/trade a stranger into our locker room? Is it an NHL rule or something? Our guys have been playing so well and are at the top of the NHL! Since Connor has been injured, everyone has stepped up and we have been getting phenomenal results from everybody. If it's not broke, why mess with it?? This is the best team the Jets has ever had... period. The chemistry is undeniable and we are seeing the best sacrifices, commitments and feats being performed, I mean look at 55 full ice play and instigated a fight for heavens' sake...lol. I am not sure of the workings around waivers and stuff, but Axe is the player I feel that deserves to stay. As much as I like Stanley, I think he will do better elsewhere. Not too familiar with the others, and I do not recall seeing Chisholm play on the team but I am still an amateur fan and will need to defer to you guys about that. Can't believe I am here, on a Saturday, watching IC and and giving my 2 cents about this...lol. I guess I am addicted to the Jets Interesting thoughts Darly, and since you mention IC, not sure how many caught the Hamilton segment but he threw a wild trade suggestion into the mix. He says Pens will probably be looking to move Crosby. He says they also covet McGroarty. Fill in the blanks...(IC guys by the way didn't seem to be on board with this.)
Crosby is still a great player and he could very well be one player that could put the Jets over the top for Cup contention. On one hand, I say if Jets ever have a chance to win the Cup, it will probably be the only one in my lifetime...go for it!
On the other hand, Crosby doesn't guarantee the Cup and I still have a lot of hockey to watch lol. I want McGroarty be a Jet for the next 10 years or so at least and he would in all likelihood be the centerpiece of the next iteration of the Jets that will follow the downside of the Jets 30-something core. So I do not count myself in on giving up McGroarty.
Other than McG, I really don't think the Jets have many "untouchables". If there are there other pieces who could be in the mix to acquire Crosby, that could make things interesting for sure! All probably pie in the sky, but interesting nonetheless.

Keep McG. How much longer would Crosby play if he were to be traded to the Jets? As you say, McG could be and hopefully would be a mainstay with the Jets for 10 years, hopefully more than 10 years. Just my opinion and thoughts. Cheers, 2b9😃👍

The Jets acquired Paul Stastny at the deadline in 18. That worked out pretty good. Nino and Nammy last year.
As far as Lindholm being disgruntled, that's not what I've read. Says he loves Canada and loves Calgary and is willing to sign long term.
If we're talking a serious cup run, you can't have enough depth. And loyalties are put aside to improve the team.
Lindholm would make the Jets stronger up front. He has size, speed, can score and plays a 200 ft. game. And who knows? He might even stick around.
If the pricetag isn't too ridiculous, get him.

I vote for getting a big D would be the best option. Thanks for all of your responses, I learned a lot.

Last year , the untouchables were Ville, McG, Lambert and Lucius. Obviously we would have Barlow and the Big Swede now on that list.
Given injuries, Lucius maybe could be used as a trade chip. And maybe Ville if they think they can re-sign DeMelo and Dillon. Or maybe they think Chisholm is essentially the same player as Ville.
I find it hard to image picking up a forward given once we get Conner and Kupari back we will already have too many. Picking up another one would mean we would have to throw in a forward like Gus. Once the two injured guys are back Gus and Axle and Toninato are sitting. And if we picked up a second line Center, then who sits ? Barron? Kupari? Iafallo? Good problem to have.
That’s why I think we may just pick up or try to pick up a Right D who is better than Schmidt.

The fact that so many of the league's contenders, including the Jets, are interested in Lindholm speaks of his anticipated value in a playoff push.
The Jets are one of the top defensive teams in the league so far, mostly because of forwards invested in defensive play.
A GM's job is to find a better player than one you currently have. If you aquire him and someone gets pushed out of the lineup, that's pro sports.
In my mind, the only untouchable is McGroarty after his play in the WJC. Barlow doesn't have the pro icetime to garner much interest. Whether it's for a quality forward or a D-man, I think Lambert, Lucious or Chibrikov could be in play. Maybe even Heinola.

I just don't want to pay a lot for what really should be a rental (Lindholm). I guess he could re-sign, but do the Jets really want almost $20M tied up on centers who will be 37/38 at the end of their deals?
Lambert is showing he's a 2nd line center next year for Winnipeg, in my opinion. That's a lot to give up in my opinion. Barlow has value as the most recent 1st round selection and I would include him in the un-tradeable category with Lambert, McGroarty & Salomonsson (though Salo can be included in we get a great RD in return).

Chevy's seriously kicking the tires, according to the insiders. So, our opinions don't much matter.

Chevy always kicks the tires but have we EVER traded a top prospect in our pool? We need those guys for the 'next wave' so to speak. I fully expect that pattern to continue.
Given our position and how well the whole team is playing, Checy is in the cat birds seat - no panic or 'need' to trade, just see if there is a great hockey trade available.

No thanks. I'm keeping the kid. Think it was Scott Billeck that said he figures Rutger will be our captain one day. Exemplary leadership and hockey skills

Given our position and how well the whole team is playing, Checy is in the cat birds seat - no panic or 'need' to trade, just see if there is a great hockey trade available. Jets 2.0 have never traded a top prospect. Nor have they won many playoff rounds. Maybe it's time. We all know that the playoffs are a different animal. Our smaller forwards will be roughed up big time. We've seen our share of injuries. If Chevy is contemplating this deal, it's not just for the sake of doing a deal. He'll do it to make the team better. And deeper. And bigger. Not to mention that Lindholm is not a bad faceoff guy. And, if Colorado lands him, that'll make the Avs a slightly tougher out if the Jets meet them. Lindholm has 26 points in 30 games vs the Jets. It probably doesn't happen. It is fun to speculate.

Crosby isn't coming to Winnipeg. McGroarty is a rare stroke of draft luck. Sid would give you a couple months while big Mac will be here for years. It's bulls@$t speculation and it's not even a good attempt at bulls#$t. Now, if we want something more realistic how about prying Nick Bjugstad out of Arizona.
