McGroarty and team USA's attitudes and antics at the world juniors might give you an indication of his true character. There's abundant arrogance and a sense of entitlement in this individual. Historically these personality types don't contribute to teams unless there's strong coaching and team mates that keep them in line and focused. He's a strong physical player that's sorely needed on the Jets but if his thoughts are that he is special and can jump past the usual hoops then maybe it's best to send him on his way. I'm sure UTAH would be a good landing spot for him. UTAH also has a mess of picks they could give. I'm not up to speed on this. What did he do at the WJHC? Attitude wise?

I do think we are a tad slow at bringing on young prospects but we are not alone in this regard. History does show that a slower process is more successful than a quicker process. It is easier to destroy a young career but being too early in the NHL than being too late.
Now, I would also say that this team, any team actually should never guarantee a spot. You have to earn it and any smart and confident player should understand this.
I think this may be a dual issue, he wants things too quickly and we do things too slowly. Although it has been a number of years now, Trouba made this team without AHL time. But he earned it.
I am not sure why McG thinks he deserves an NHL spot? He has not earned anything. Period.

For one thing he has more attitude than talent so ship him off for a bonafide defenseman who can make a bigger difference for us? Chances of him lighting it up in the nhl probably years down the road? College hockey is not NHL hockey. And tell him to not let the salloon doors slap his a-- on the way out! He's Captain Mediocre at best we have too many of those players already!

Yeah let's make ourselves feel better by attacking the kid. That makes up for the Jets weak@ss failure. I want a young star to have a chip on his shoulder.

Lenny: I personally am not attacking him, I stated that if his attitude is bad, move on from him, that’s it, that’s all. If you read my previous comments, you will see that I was not convinced that this so called situation was truly confirmed/him wanting to move on. We shall see what happens as time goes by, and in all honesty/likelihood, if he is going to be moved, it’ll happen shortly, that’s according to Murat Ates/The Athletic. This is a really screwy situation/hopefully it all works out, especially for the Jets. Cheers, 2b9😉😃👍

Kind of like just hearing one side of the story and then act like you have all the facts, eh? The truth is we do NOT know the facts of the situation at all. Both sides will want to make themselves look best with what they say, so neither is a truly trustworthy source.

Both sides will want to make themselves look best with what they say, so neither is a truly trustworthy source. This whole situation is so screwy, a bunch of stuff coming from Media/However, all with no real truthful confirmation/it’s just from apparently credible sources including supposed information coming from McG’s Family Advisor including his camp, why has no one from either come forward to confirm or deny? And, not one word from the Jets. I get it, everyone from McG’s side included the Jets side want to keep things quiet. However though, where there is smoke, there is fire, just wish that all parties would come together and forward to confirm what’s actually going on. Just my thoughts and opinion. BTW, this whole thing does not effect my life, it just pisses myself off, no biggie, I’m over it, I couldn’t care less as to what happens, it’s out of my control, whatever happens, happens. I’m just about to enjoy an “Awesome Pizza”, seriously looking forward to that, Yum, Yum, Woo-Hoo😉😃👍! Cheers, 2b9😉😃👍

Here are two extreme versions of the Jets' negotiations with McGroarty....
McG's version: I was sitting with a contract in front of me, pen in hand trembling with excitement at the thought of starting my NHL career in Winnipeg. Just before I signed, I asked if management thought I would have a chance to play in the big league this year? Cheveldayoff shook his head gravely, "No chance, kid. The best you can hope for is the AHL". "Not even one game, sir?", I pleaded. Chevy just frowned and said "You're an AHLer right now, that's it. You're lucky we don't send you to Juniors. Maybe you'll reach the NHL before you're 30.". I was aghast and almost in tears when I told them "I guess it would be best if they trade me to a lesser city than the great Peg". Heartbroken, I sadly left his office.
Jets' version: Chevy was sitting behind his desk when the phone ringed with McG's agent on the other end. He said "Received the contract offer, nothing seems amiss other than I absolutely demand that McG only plays in the NHL. He is 100% ready, even though I have to admit that he hasn't actually played against men yet, but yeah it's the NHL or bust. You see, some of his friends are going to be in the NHL, so he wants the same thing. Top 6 too, none of that bottom six crap". Chevy was shocked, but tried to be accommodating as well as noting that there were still a lot of moving parts at this time and how the roster will look come training camp is unknown, so he didn't want to make any promises he couldn't keep. The Jets' GM said "Hey, your client definitely has a chance to make the team in training camp, just like every other player. If he doesn't, I can assure you he will be the first call up if he lights up the AHL like you believe he would." McG's agent was unwielding and said that since they couldn't guarantee him a spot, it's best they trade McG.
Now I'm sure the whole thing happened somewhere closer to the middle of these examples, but it is all just a guess.

Nevertheless😉👍: Off to my “Awesome Pizza”😉😃👍! Cheers, 2b9😉😃👍

If what has been reported in the media is correct, it would seem to support the theory that there is rot at the heart of the team. McGroarty or his advisors may have heard this and decided that it would be detrimental to his development if he joined a "good enough" team which is not committed to aspiring to be elite.

Personally, I like the idea of a player with enough confidence to think he can step right in and contribute. After all, one would assume that he's watched the Jets play and seen their shortcomings.
A brash youngster with some attitude might not be such a bad thing for what seems to be a group that is sorely deficient of that kind of energy and confidence.
