Chevy 's Legacy on full Display, like Laine or not Montreal got better? Chevy better Hope our young guns can replace what we gave up this summer or we are not surprising anyone this year! Tho I do like Lambert and Chibricov and a year older Perfetti Let's hope the coaches know what there doing especially with the line matching? Should we go back when you cried the blues and told all us Chevy should be fired immediately if Lambert ( the next Uber duper superstar like we have seen the great one) wasn't on the opening day roster as a rookie? Remember that? Well, now you got it. And here we are crying the blues yet again.

Report out that we are trading McGroarty to Penguins c Brayden Yager I believe. Doesn't sound bad at all. 14th overall for a 14th overall pick. McGroarty in 2022 & Yaeger in 2023. Was the Pens' top prospect according to a recent list: 1. Brayden Yager, F How acquired: Selected with No. 14 pick in 2023 NHL Draft 2023-24 season: Moose Jaw (WHL): 57 GP, 35-60-95 Yager has made solid strides each of his past three seasons with Moose Jaw; the 19-year-old improved from 59 points (34 goals, 25 assists) in 63 games in 2021-22 to 78 points (28 goals, 50 assists) in 67 games in 2022-23 to 95 points last season. Pittsburgh could benefit from the offensive potential Yager (5-foot-11, 180 pounds) provides. The native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan said he would like to push for a spot at training camp in September but still is looking to add size that could help him compete in the NHL. "I would never want to limit a young player's ability to make the team," Penguins assistant general manager Jason Spezza said. "So he controls that in terms of how he shows up and how he plays. But we saw great growth as far as his ability to play tough matchups." Projected NHL arrival: Next season Here is a profile from The Hockey Writers: thehockeywriters.com/2023-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-brayden-yager/

After all the Jets weren't ready to commit although he did demand a spot without earning it.

It's too bad he is too young (I believe by 3 days) for the AHL, because after 95 pts in 57 Junior games, not really sure it's a great place to develop for another season.

That's a pretty good trade considering the situation. I thought Chevy would trade for a PLAY NOW player. But Yager was Pittsburghs top prospect so I understand. And not insignificantly he's born in Saskatoon, playing for Moosejaw.

Gee it only took 11 years for the Jets to get a first rounder from the WHL. Last one was Morrissey.

Awesome !!! Just what the Jets need. Another small forward. Yes, at 6'0" and 170lb, he does not seem to fit what the Jets need- a power forward, but he has talent and grit with the prospect of putting on another 15 lb of muscle if he applies himself. No help for the Jets for 2-3 years, through, and that may not be enough to save Chevy's butt.

Not sure Chevy's seat is even slightly hot in the eyes of ownership...probably will take him walking away like Maurice before Winnipeg has another GM. Seen everything from 165 to 180 lbs for Yager, so hopefully he continues to fill out and be bigger for a real attempt to make the Jets straight out of Juniors next season. The Pens were planning on giving him a long look at the upcoming training camp, but I can't see him leap-frogging Lambert for an NHL shot this year. The roster is less than half full up front for next season, but still will probably see time with Manitoba. Too bad he wasn't slightly premature, 3 days away from making the Moose a very exciting team to watch this year.

Good riddance Rutger. Yager may not be as big as we all hoped for but his stats are as good as Mc Whiney's. Finally we can move on from wasting time discussing a spoilt brat. Senior players in Pittsburg won't put up with any rookie feeling he's entitled.

There were a few interesting tidbits from Chevy today. Lots of his usual dribble as well but a few gems none the less . The most striking was that the only reason they could get from Rutgerscamp was. " It didn't feel right " That's it. That's his reason. Chevy asked his agent if there was more to it, maybe friction with other prospects, Jets coaches, prospect development or any other issue. And apparently his agent didn't know. All the Jets got from Rutgers inner circle was " It didn't feel right " It sounds to me like the kids success went to his head and to his family's head. I'm excited to see what Yager brings. Edit- Also the Jets did offer him a contract. He didn't want it. There's some things that don't line up. According to Chevy , Rutger claimed he decided at last year's development camp that he put on a Jets uni, and the whole situation " just didn't feel right " . I think Rutger is full of BS on that. We all saw how pumped he was to be there last year.
Playing in the worlds, all the hype, all the press, has made this kid decide he's to big for Winnipeg. That's my belief. If it hadn't happened now, it would have happened later. Bye, bye, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Welcome to the Jets Yager.
