Ellerby and Morrissey will be fighting for that eight and final spot in camp. Jets will roll with 13 forwards this year so that Thorbs and Peluso aren't always both out there. Morrissey will never battle for an 8th spot. If that's the case he'll be sent down for playing time rather than sitting in a press box. If he's not top 6 he's not with the big club.

Morrissey will most likely be another year. Let him put on a few pounds so he dosen't get run over.

^Virtually every contract has a morality or conduct clause. The contract doesn't breach any NHLPA issues as it was negotiated between his agent and the Jets in good faith. Unfortunately that "good faith" was only one way.

Morrissey is a first round pick we expect him to play in the top six. I honestly don't know what another Junior year is going to accomplish. The WHL has a grueling schedule so not a lot of time for heavy weight training and gaining weight. From what I saw in the AHL playoffs he's ready to play with the big boys. He appears much more adept and smarter at avoiding big hits than Enstrom and yet he can dish it out at opportune times. And such a great hockey sense and skating abilities.

Morrissey might be ready, and if he shows in preseason he can play let him go for it!

I'm just guessing but by re-signing Pardy and Ellerby and with Clitsome coming back, Morrissey won't be with us

I'd love to see Morrissey and Stuart as a pairing. Even the sophomore Trouba with Morrissey would be interesting from time to time.

Pavelec was also an RFA so it's not like the Jets didn't hold bargaining power either. They could have signed him at least a million, if not a million and a half less per year with less term too. I highly doubt had the negotiations gone to salary arbitration that the ruling would have resulted in Pavelec's cap hit more than tripling. Please tell me, the Jets had Pavelec and Mason at the end of season one prior to FA so what could Chevy do to get a goalie? Give up the pick that resulted in Trouba? Ya... No thanks. They had no goaltending prospects either and as for the deal., it was signed before the Jets found out about the DUI. Do people actually believe the NHLPA would the Jets to pull the contract? I agree the term and amount sucks but what was the alternative? 2014/15 - The official return of the "White Out"!! Why on earth would the Jets have had to give up the Trouba pick? There were plenty of trades that could have been made for way less than that pick or even free agents. Just a quick look at who they could have had the last few years...keeping in mind that they could have bought out Pavelec WITH NO SALARY CAP HIT. Free Agents? Carter Hutton - The Blackhawks technically signed him in February 2012, but he could have been had. They could have had him last year too before he signed in Nashville. Played fantastic while Rinne was out. Thomas Greiss - Could have signed him as a FA last year, ended up in Phoenix. Played great. Karri Ramo - The goalie Calgary pulled out of their asses who hadn't played in the NHL since 08-09. Played remarkable considering how awful every other goalie on their roster looked. Could actually probably still be had considering they signed Hiller and Ramo is an UFA next year. Chad Johnson - Literally could have had him three times. Signed by Phoenix in the 2012 offseason. Signed by Boston in the 2013 offseason. Signed by the Islanders this (2014) offseason. Jeff Zatkoff - Signed by the Penguins during the 2012 offseason. Ray Emery - Not saying they should have but the option was there. Anton Khudobin - Along with Greiss probably the two signed-by-other-teams goalies that pissed me off the most. He may have actually been the best goalie in the league last year. Trades? Ben Scrivens - Literally all it took was a third-round pick. Viktor Fasth - Oh look another goalie that ended up in Edmonton. Took a 5th and a 3rd-round pick. Only knock would be that he's already in his 30s. Ben Bishop - Tampa traded Ottawa Cory Conacher and a 4th-round pick. The Jets couldn't have matched that? Consider Ottawa has already gotten rid of Conacher too. Anders Lindback - The trade was there but this one it's a good thing the Jets didn't do. Jonathan Bernier - Do I even need to say anything? Not sure what LA would have wanted from the Jets but it's not like Toronto ruined their franchise to make this trade. Hilariously Ben Scrivens was involved in this trade... Jarovlav Halak - He was available multiple times, the most absurd being when he was traded from Washington to the Islanders for a 4th-round pick. Michael Neuvirth - Was clearly available given the fact he was actually traded.

Also again he was an RFA, the Jets literally held all the chips in that negotiation.
There was absolutely no need, rhyme, or reason to signed him for that much for that long.

Oh good, for a second there I was concerned that we might actually have a discussion that DIDN'T turn into a Chevy argument. We wouldn't have Chevy arguments if people didn't run around blindly defending him in every topic As opposed to blindly accusing him?

Just saying there's two sides to every discussion. If you want your side respected you have to show some for the other side.

Who did the Jets have that they could sign, move up, or trade for to replace Pavelec, with no prospects and a first round pick that resulted in Trouba. Please enlighten me and all the readers as to what Chevy's options were.
