See I could understand if his GAA was still 3.01 but his save % was like .910 or .911 or something but the guy gave up the most goals in the league (for the third straight year) without finishing in the Top 10 in shots against this year.
Like seriously, the Jets with league-average goaltending from Pavelec give up 20 less goals and probably make the playoffs over the Stars.

I believe it was Maurice, not Chevy, that said we won't know how good Pavs is until the team in front of him plays a more responsible game...something to that effect. I'm sure he meant that our players need to play within the system or follow the game plan rather than needing big changes in personnel. True, not every goal that goes in is Pavelec's fault but I wholeheartedly disagree that his play to date can't be evaluated. What I gather from what PM said though is that he's going to put the system in place to support him, now he better produce - no more crutches. Yep, no more crutches. I am a Pavs supporter, and I really do believe he has more in him. But this is my last year of support if it doesn't get better. I don't think we have the best team D around him, but he played really well after the PM hire (and yes, did fall flat at the end, but I also believe he was overused) but I am hoping with a better system (we definitely didn't have one before PM) and less games played, he will be better. Fingers Crossed!

If appearing in 57 games (14th in the league) is being overused then that just further exemplifies what a colossal waste of money that $3.9M is.
But I agree he's overused if we're using it in the sense that his "games played" statistic should be "0".
