I don't even know how this thread got this far.... True North had their ears. Any play as much a dreams at night without a sound of not wanting to be in Winnipeg will be on the first plane ticket out. ... totally

Maybe for some people, but not the majority who've seen both play. Kane's a power forward in Iginla's mold, but likely without the intangibles that Iginla brings. Their ethnicity is just a coincidence. I don't think he's played badly either. It's possible that benching Kane and limiting his TOI in order to try to maximise his performance (on Noel's part) has actually encouraged him to try too hard. You honestly believe of all the players in the NHL, Kane style of play is most similar to Iginla? That he couldn't be compared to many other goal scoring 'power forwards' and it is just a 'coincidence' he's compared to Iginla? Anyway, that was not my main point. My point was that certain players get criticized (or praised) almost out of habit. Antropov has a goal and is a plus/minus 0 on a team that has let in 13 goals in 3 games. Kane hasn't done much yet -- zero points and is a minus 2. I am expecting more from him as many see him as a potential franchise type player. I hope he picks things up. If he turns out to be anything like Iginla, Jets fans will be very happy... Sure, why not? Coincidences actually do happen you know. Also regarding the comparison, Jarome Iginla did take a couple years to begin producing big numbers offensively. It took four years in fact for Iginla to hit 60 points and I'm expecting Kane to reach 50 points this season (his third season). It's just a fact of the game that power forwards tend to take a few years to evolve their offensive aspects. Regarding Antropov I'd agree. I still don't view him as a future part of the franchise, but given various necessities such as reaching the salary floor and filling roster spots with bona fide NHLers (and Antropov is an NHLer) he's a necessary piece in the short term for this franchise. Plus he's a veteran who's actually playing well at the moment.

Perhaps its Californian ignorance, but...
Is there a real, sensible reason someone wouldn't want to play for/in Winnipeg?
Aside from the matter of contention--which I don't think the Jets will be in, sorry, not this year...if things break marvellously, they MIGHT be scrappers for the final two spots, but I just don't see it, not this year--is there a reason players would want to avoid Winnipeg?
That seems a bit like wanting to play baseball but not play for a team like the Cubs or Yankees or Red Sox or Dodgers...

The giveaways are killing us. The invisible power play is also killing us. We're the only team thus far without a power play goal. Buff is not a true defenceman. How many times has he been caught out of position over 3 games? The NHL is not a game for "rovers".
Buff needs to play forward.

Nope. This isn't why we are 3-0. And I don't get all the criticism of Antropov...he seems to be an easy target, but he hasn't been the worst player at all. He actually has had a a few scoring opportunities and is more noticeable out there than some invisible forwards. He does appears slow, but he's always appeared that way, not just since joining the Jets. He's a big guy at 6'6. Edit: what has Evander Kane done out there? A lot of people were saying he's ready to breakout and become the next Iginla. Why? Because he shares some heritage? He's been invisible and is hardly getting any criticism either...puzzling how he gets pumped up but a free pass when he does nothing. Well, I did watch them last year. I watched all of them closely since their beginnings. Enstrom will be just fine, he is the best all around hockey player on this team. Antro IS an easy target and when you look back on his season you will see he takes a tough rap. Kane took 234 shot last year and scored 19. He needs to find his scoring touch and it looks like he hasn't yet. I remember looking at the poll on the Jets' main site pre season he was by far voted as the high scorer. His performance will be a make or break for this team IMO. Right now they are ALL gripping the sticks to hard.

All I was trying to say was that ANY player at all that mentions not wanting to be in Winnipeg......will be gone from Winnipeg. True North will not allow these players to be a part of the organization. They will know.....I trust that all who are here now WANT to be here.

...is there a reason players would want to avoid Winnipeg? Winnipeggers have a sickening inferiority complex. I don't know where it came from, but the level of self-deprecation here is often absurd. I thought the whole NHL return thing would help, along with a successful season from the Bombers, and other new and positive things around the city, but it's still there apparently. Have some confidence, people... jeez.

word about the street in Roseau (where buff's family is) reads that buff is not excited one bit to be playing in the Winnipeg.

word about the street in Roseau (where buff's family is) reads that buff is not excited one bit to be playing in the Winnipeg. Interesting if true. Of course, if asked, he'll deny it. Guess we'll have to keep an eye on things he says in TV interviews. Written quotes or radio interviews don't convey the body language and or tone of what is and how it's said. The same will apply to ALL the players.
