I read that it might not even get built , even if it does , it will take at least 2 years. And that is exactly why they should have never even considered Thunder Bay in the first place. If the Ice Caps have to move, Saskatoon should have been a lock. They have an arena with a capacity that is well above AHL standards, a population of 275,000. One of the fastest growing cities in Canada, and in a province rich with natural resources, with a love for hockey that is second to none.

^ Good points! I had no love for the Canucks' Moose. The Jets' Moose would be a completely different story. I'd likely be one of those who would go to a few New Moose games to check out the Jets prospects. I'm with you. I'd be interested in checking out the Junior Jets a few games a year, especially since I could take my whole family for what I pay for one seat to a Jets' game. PLUS! We'd finally have a solid chance at seeing playoff hockey at MTS! m.

The knock on this city is it takes a very long time for the city to get things done. It is getting better from years past but it's still a painfully long process. The city approved another $1 million, yes I said $1 million dollars muah ha ha, for stage 3 which needs to look into studies on how and where to move a hydro station and a bus terminal currently on the lot the arena will be built, and stage 3 consists of architectural drawings I believe. They are also working on securing the proper funding. So the process is moving but it's much different when you had a Mark Chipman with a vision driving the ship. All we have is a bunch of city counsellors moving this along.

Back when I lived in Calgary, there was talk of the Flames moving their AHL team to Saskatoon. They said their was an issue with the Saskatoon Blades which prevented them from doing so.

I'm sure the people of Saskatoon would prefer the AHL to Junior hockey, judging by their dismal attendance for the Blades. I'm sure something could be worked out.

Unlike Tim, who may or may not have some actual inside info, I'm basing this entirely on "gut feel"... but I find it hard to believe that TNSE would allow themselves to be caught with their pants down in this situation in waving goodbye to St. John's with no assurances of a favorable outcome. I mean, are they really comfortable just bringing the team to Winnipeg if Thunder Bay doesn't work out - with no other plan "B"?
Me thinks this is all worked out, or there's another pre-arranged landing spot in the event Thunder Bay falls flat.
