^ I haven't heard anything other than speculation on this board suggesting Saskatoon. Has there been any talk in the media about True North considering the city as a possibility for the Ice Caps if St. John's is no longer an option after next season? If Saskatoon gets an AHL franchise I wonder if they would use it to the same exten Winnipeg did and use thefranchise to prove to the NHL that they can and would support an NHL franchise if given the chance. The NHL leaked that they put in a bid for the Coyotes a couple years ago maybe Saskatoon would use this as an extremely long shot method of finally landing an NHL team.

Might be a WHL for an AHL franchise swap.

^ Well there has bene no evidence to support than so I don't know is Saskatoon is really an option. If Thunder Bay falls through the Jets will prolly just move the team to New York State somewhere to cut back on the travel costs that are making a team in St. John's not make viable sense.

It's not just their travel costs, they have to chip in for the visitors and the rent etc is a big issue. They lost money in their playoff run even with a packed house.

Unlike Tim, who may or may not have some actual inside info, I'm basing this entirely on "gut feel"... but I find it hard to believe that TNSE would allow themselves to be caught with their pants down in this situation in waving goodbye to St. John's with no assurances of a favorable outcome. I mean, are they really comfortable just bringing the team to Winnipeg if Thunder Bay doesn't work out - with no other plan "B"? Me thinks this is all worked out, or there's another pre-arranged landing spot in the event Thunder Bay falls flat. Not all worked out but getting there! If Tim's pleading the 5th and accepting Captain Morgan, I think it's the straight goods! (Anyway, this isn't a new rumour, but Tim certainly sounds sure about it). There must be someone pushing it, in addition to the city councillors - yeesh! A lot of Peggers travel to TBay, or are from there, or both. Could be a winter getaway - skiing and Jets AHL watching! (Pass the rum?)

(Pass the rum?) i worry about over saturation. having both teams here wont work. never has, and never will. sorry, but that is THE truth! move the club to Saskatoon, Fargo, Lincoln. i dont care. but NOT in Winnipeg.

But a good team is backing and steering the jet, I mean ship, on this one!

^ So it does sound like something is in the works to bring the farm team to Thunder Bay. I for one hope it happens

I'm happy for St. John's.
I hope this gives Thunder Bay time to get the building built and for St. John's to find another franchise.
