This kneeling discussion has NOTHING to do with Trump. It started with Crapernick long before Trump. Trump may be a moron in the way he tweets out inflammatory comments and the debate over whether he is a white supremacist will rage on and people have EVERY right to protest in any way they want with the obvious EXCEPTION of during the national anthem. There are many many ways to do this with social media. Or quit the game you make millions playing as a stand and starve yourself in the street like Gandhi did but protesting during the anthem is hypocritical...why not join the army and fight alongside all those who have lost their lives fighting to keep the US a place where people have the right to express their opinion and then when you come back see if you kneel during the anthem?...not happening

People still believe this is about a flag and anthem eh?
Best take I've seen so far. Everybody should watch the video in this tweet from First Things First on Fox Sports 1

Back in the 80's when the Jets made the playoffs, those at the game could attest to this. Jets fans would lose their minds and their voices during the anthems, mostly the Canadian. That was never meant to be disrespectful and was never taken that way.
Taking a knee isn't either. Are the booing or holding up the middle finger? Rolling out signs that say anything derogatory?
And I've seen interviews and tweets from plenty of vets who have no issue with the knee, stating things like, it's why I served in the first place.
There will always be 2 sides to this, I just can't believe people think this is not racially driven, or that it's disrespectful.

No, most know the issue of why Kaepernick sat then took a knee. (police violence against blacks) The issue people that don't agree with what the players are doing have is that it is disrespectful to do this protest during the anthem The media, mostly liberal are the ones really making this about the anthem

People still believe this is about a flag and anthem eh? Best take I've seen so far. Everybody should watch the video in this tweet from First Things First on Fox Sports 1 ahaha...what a horrible attempt to make a point. He loses all credibility right away when he says "i won't comment on the ABSURDITY of the President...", he just did by using that word - he is already commenting...what a moron. But to the real point, he claims they are not being anti military - tell him to go fight a battle and when he gets back he would never kneel. Period. Second, he tries to disassociate the flag and the anthem. It can't be done. The flag is they very symbol of the anthem and that is why they roll it out during its play. Protest any time you want and use your celebrity all you want, just not during the playing of the national anthem while democracy and the flag are being flown. And to those that say this is not about the anthem, he even SAYS "the palyers are USING the anthem to protest..." listen again that is exactly what he says, "they are USING the anthem..." This chump does more to damage the argument than settle it.

If you were an American, you were taught at an early age to respect the flag and the anthem. I remember learning the pledge of allegiance in grade 1. (you know, I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, etc) We all stood every morning for the pledge and the anthem. That is the way of showing respect. I am sure someone can come up with just as many tweets from veterans who will say it is disrespect. Again, the protest is about police treatment of blacks, not the anthem or flag. So they did their protest now what do they do?

I can't speak for them, but I'd assume that as long as racism is present in the US, they'll use whatever format of protest they want, to keep the discussion alive.

The knee while the Anthem is playing is saying, "there is something wrong in this country, and it needs to be adressed", not "the US sucks". Just a guess, but the day you per capita, have as many black cops killing white unarmed citizens and getting away with it, as you do the other way around, is the day these protestors may stand down. We all say what happened to Rodney King. Just imagine 4 or 5 black cops whaling away on some white dude, and walking away Scott free. Ya, that'll happen.

I will not debate racism with you...there is no place for it and you quoting statistics does not drive that home any more. Racism is wrong and it should not exist. You miss the simple logic of protesting. Remember Tienanmen Square back in 1989? Protesting was not legal and people died. That is not the case in the US. It is not the case because we live in a democratic society. We live in a Democratic society because we fought hard for it and many people lost their lives. The flag stands for that symbol of freedom and people fought and died for the flag. The flag and the anthem are inextricably linked. That is why large flags fly when the anthem is performed. Listen to the Star Bangled Banner words - "yet our flag was still there". Kneeling during an anthem is therefore hypocritical. They, therefore, have no right to protest using the anthem. They can protest any other time and any other way within the confines of the law.
