That exchange above reminded me of our 2nd child's birth and a Jets game. We had WHA seasons tickets. When our daughter was born the Jets were in the midst of home stand. Well the same day after our girl was born my father in law and I were off to see the Jets play. We stopped in to the visit my wife and daughter when she reminded us this was her scheduled game and she felt well enough to go watch in person. And indeed she did look like she could've gone. However back in those days you were in the hospital a minimum of 3 days and if your child was jaundiced well 7 days wasn't unusual. Anyway this is tangently related but I agree if my wife could've gone to a Jets game post delivery then so could have DeMelo! After all his wife was doing all the hard work, he was holding her hand and trying to stay out of the way.😉 Hopefully he is back for the 3rd game and all is going well at home.

Good news is Maurice said wife and child are both all good and the reason for not playing is that due to covid they could not find any help...I wonder what his teammates think?

No Demlo, no Poolman and Laine is iffy. A bit of a hole in the lineup for the 2nd game. Sounds like we might see Stanley and Samberg on this trip.

I would suspect most of them think it's normal and support it. They are all young guys and are use to the " new way ". When my kids were born in the 80s the new way of thinking had me in the room while it was happening. Now fathers take time off work after the birth as well. Things change. There are big differences between the birth of my 4 children and my 11 grand kids in societal expectations. It is what it is.

My wife (2 kids) said "they need help ?, get on the ice and play" LOL Perhaps more to the story. We don't always get every little detail of someone's personal life.
