I think this is a good signing. He has experience as a assistant coach in the NHL and as a head coach in the WHL. Maybe instill a bit more of the hard work, defensive responsibility and tenacity that he played with.

Signing Dave Lowry is a good thing IMO. I remain in my position of moving on from Niku and Rosie.

Apparently Marco Dano has done some real damage to himself and will require surgery that will probably end his season (and likely his NHL/AHL career)

Yeah I heard he is going for surgery. Did you hear how he got the injury and if he had it before he signed? Timing of getting an injury requiring surgery just after signing an NHL contract would be terrible luck for everyone involved.

Yeah I heard he is going for surgery. Did you hear how he got the injury and if he had it before he signed? Timing of getting an injury requiring surgery just after signing an NHL contract would be terrible luck for everyone involved. Winnipeg Jets winger Marko Dano has suffered a broken wrist while playing with HK Dukla Trencin in Slovakia. After recently signing with Winnipeg, the Jets allowed the 26-year-old Austria product to continue his development overseas with the club he played his U-18 and U-20 hockey with. In mid-November, the 6-foot, 215-pound forward broke his wrist, which required immediate surgery as well as a follow-up procedure. “I had a small fragment of a bone in my left wrist that pressed against the nervous system in my hand, and I am currently in home treatment,” Dano told Nový Čas, while also hinting at his return to the Jets. “I’m excited to continue my NHL career. I have worked in Winnipeg in the past, I know what awaits me in this organization, and I look forward to returning to this club when healthy.” The Jets confirmed the injury to Dave Minuk of Illegal Curve, indicating that Dano had “suffered an upper body injury some weeks ago which required surgery and he is out indefinitely”. “As both operations took place without any problems, the length of treatment should be around two months,” Dano added. “Until the stitches are removed, my wrist will be in this condition, then I should get a splint and gradually start rehabilitation.”

likely no season in 2020-2021 anyway so this will not be an issue....too many owners will simply lose a lot less if they don't play and the players agreed to a 50/50 revenue share but seem to think that means they don't also take any risk like an owner does....if you agree to be a 50/50 partner in any business then you reap the upside rewards but then must also assume the risk of downside and since they likely will not, there will be no season. That sucks for fans, the game of hockey, the NHL as a relevant league (especially in brutal existing markets) and the players who miss out on a year of an average of 4 year career salary earnings.

There were tentative plans to start the new season in January following a shortened training camp/pre-season schedule. Now that date has been set back to mid-February and there are even talks of setting up a Canadian-only division if the COVID pandemic is still raging in the US.

We are just 3-4 weeks behind the US, but in theory at least, the vaccine may end this, while our numbers are ramping up. Manitoba, if it had the same number of patient deaths 1 in 800 population as North Dakota, there would be 1625 deaths now. Thank God we are not there as bad as the current situation is! But a pan Canadian division may not be a sure thing.

Moderators, it might be an idea to take this Covid discussion and split it off under its own thread under the other topics heading? Just a thought.

Go somewhere else with all the C-19 talk! This is a forum on the Jets and hockey, a place to get away from all the other crap going on. There are more than enough other places people can go and argue about things not Jets/hockey related.😒

Ok, who can help themselves from talking covid these days, but it's sure nice to have a place to get away from it too! So unless it relates directly to NHL/Jets business, there is a new thread in Water Cooler to debate the best way to handle the pandemic...respectfully please and may all come to a consensus we can pass on to our political leaders!

fair enough....but it was big news for the Jets yesterday that the Province allowed the Jets to train in Winnipeg or they were having to look elsewhere....now if all goes well they will be allowed to play in the Hangar and accept teams into MB after January 8th
the Jets Gala Dinner is tomorrow night virtually...it is always a great night in person so hope it will be acceptable virtually...my wife and I will be attending via my backyard with my laptop hooked up to a TV and the fire pit going!!!

Today on 1290 they reported that there is a lot of pessimism in the media about the Jets' chances this season. They rate the Jets' playoff chances at only 50-50 and expect the Jets to finish behind the Leafs(first), Oilers(second), Flames/Canucks (tied for third), the Jets and then the Senators. They also reported that the Kings are lusting after DuBois, so not likely he will be a Jet.

I am just excited to watch hockey. And cheer for my team obviously. But my buddy started a very simple pool for the Canadian division just a pic were teams finished I was the only one that picks the Jets to be seventh but nobody picked them higher than fourth. Until we get some defenceman I think we’re likely to be in trouble but that wall not damp in my spirits for the season
