From a Winnipeg Free Press article talking about who is at the informal pre-training camp skates in the Peg: "Adam Lowry, Gabe Vilardi, Alex Iafallo, Neal Pionk, Laurent Brossoit and Dominic Toninato were the established NHLers on the ice Tuesday morning. Jeffrey Viel, Danny Zhilkin, Daniel Torgersson, Henri Nikkanen, Dmitry Kuzmin, Tyrel Bauer and Parker Ford also joined them for an hour-long session led by Dave Cameron, who runs the organization’s hockey development program."Looks like some players are pumped about the season and already skating in Winnipeg. Good to see. Rookie training camp starts on my birthday (Sept 13th) and they set off for the Young Guns tourney in Penticton the following day. The full training camp begins on Sept 20th and more & more players should be joining the informal skates before then. Just received notice that I've been charged for my Manitoba Moose AHLTV package (FYI - $73 Canadian for all 72 Moose regular season games). Can't wait for both the NHL & AHL to start up again. Thanks for the info👍. Hope that you have a great Birthday😃👍! Cheers, 2b9😃👍

It was an interesting read, but he what is he thinking scratching Samberg for Schmidt in his final lineup. The Columbus trade is the better by far for Winnipeg as Johnson would be a great add and Boqvist while small is at least a young RHD. Not a fan of the NJ trade at all.

Samberg is an up and comer for the Jets, he is going to be a mainstay Jets D-Man for the Jets for years to come. Not going to comment on the other stuff, at this point, it’s all here-say, media trying to create excitement and ratings. Looking forward to the upcoming season, excited, albeit nervous😃😂🤣🫣😜🤔😅🙃😓🥵😉👊👍!

I’m not leaving, I’m staying, I like it here as well😉😃. I’m also on the other site, just inviting BOJA back over, not asking him to leave here👍. Hey 2B9, EK is correct, I signed through the 2023-24 NHL season with the JetsHockeyForum so won't be a free agent until next off-season. Seriously though, I did notice that some new company has taken over ArcticIce, but my excitement quickly disappeared when they mentioned that they were bringing the same person back to run the site. This is a person who doesn't seem to put much effort into articles about the Winnipeg Jets unless there happens to be some social injustice they feel passionate about. Someone who regularly posted Game Previews within an hour of the game's start time, if at all ( while other SB Nation sites asked for them to be done by 8:30 am on game days). That is not even mentioning that their articles typically included very little actual information about the upcoming match and typically included some excuse about how busy their life is. Here are some examples of the great writing & insight the new owner's signed up for: " The Winnipeg Jets are playing one of the worst teams in the NHL in the Anaheim Ducks. They have lost to the Ducks this season, but the Ducks are BAD. The Jets do need to show up and play their game, but they should be the heavy favourites here. However, this is the Winnipeg Jets and they can struggle at the worst and weirdest times. With the Jets you have to be ready for anything. The Ducks are bad. They have some good, intriguing players, but they are bad and they know it." " The Winnipeg Jets and Tampa Bay Lightning are playing tonight on the same night as the Academy Awards, so excuse me for being late writing this for fashion reasons." It seems possible that this person might bring Harrison back, so there is a chance at least the Game Recaps will be entertaining. But in the past, they haven't been open to having any other writers contribute to the site despite offers by multiple people to do so for free, so I don't expect much else from them this time ( yes, there was Cole, but he just did a weekly transaction wrap up for the NHL and nothing Jets-specific). Therefore, at this point I am in a wait & see mode. While I do miss discussing the Jets with the commenters at Arctic Ice that didn't come over here, it feels wrong to support a company who has signed someone as inept or uninterested in the Jets as the person they did. Jetliner, we'll have to talk about a long term extension...

Hey 2B9, EK is correct, I signed through the 2023-24 NHL season with the JetsHockeyForum so won't be a free agent until next off-season. Jetliner, we'll have to talk about a long term extension... No worries, I won't pull a Dubois or anything. At 50, I would be crazy to turn down a long term deal and JHF will have to hope it ages better than the Wheeler extension. In Winnipeg Jets news, they announced their Young Gun roster: Goalies: Milic & DiVincentiis Defense: Lundmark, Bauer, Salomonsson, Kuzmin, Kniazev, Tourigny*, Kubicek*, & Wilson* Forwards: Lambert, Torgersson, Lucius, Nikkanen, Zhilkin, Julien, Ford, Levis, Chibrikov, Golder*, Caron*, & Liwiski* * - free agent invite Just noticed that Fabian Wagner has been loaned to a European team, which is why he is not included and won't be available for the Moose this year....too bad.

Hellebuyck Could Stay With Jets Friedman was asked about the Connor Hellebuyck situation in Winnipeg and he responded that a source told him, as the summer rolls along, it’s more likely there’s a possibility he stays with the Jets. “I’ve just been told, that the word on Hellebuyck is, he has an open mind and he’s prepared to just listen to what they’re thinking.”
Friedman said he spoke to a former Jets player and said if there was one thing he would change about the Jets, it for the key players coming to the end of their contracts, that the organization gave players more information about what the team is thinking. The Jets are really quite about that stuff and noted that the stars like Hellebuyck are probably not sure what the plans are in Winnipeg to make the team better.
There still has to be a negotiation and there still has to be a conversation about what the plans are in Winnipeg, but the door isn’t closed.
When it comes to Mark Scheifele, Friedman says there’s less information there but that the organization is worried that in trading a center, they become very light down the middle.

from The Hockey News:
6th in the Central Dvision: WINNIPEG JETS
In: Alex Iafallo (LW), Gabe Vilardi (C), Rasmus Kupari (C), Laurent Brossoit (G)
Out: Pierre-Luc Dubois (C), Blake Wheeler (RW), Sam Gagner (C), Kevin Stenlund (C), Karson Kuhlman (C), David Rittich (G)
Why they’re picked in this position: As we noted above, the Jets are another mushy middle team. They barely made the playoffs last season and fell meekly to Vegas in five first-round games.
They then lost former key components Dubois and Wheeler – in return for the former, they landed former Kings forwards Iafallo, Vilardi and Kupari, but they reportedly have unhappy campers in star goalie Connor Hellebuyck and star center Mark Scheifele, who both are scheduled to be UFAs at the end of 2023-24.
All things considered, there’s a grey cloud looming on the horizon for Winnipeg, and Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff and owner Mark Chipman are feeling the heat to change the environment for the better. That may mean taking a sideways or backward step before they can take another step forward, but the core of this team has had its day in the sun and now feels stale and crumbly. They will have a very difficult time just trying to get into the post-season, let alone be a team able to make it out of the first round.
The Jets team we see by season’s end may be significantly different than the one we see at present, and to be honest, that’s a good thing. Change is necessary for many teams in their competitive cycle, and Winnipeg needs a shakeup in the worst – and best – way.

The Winnipeg Jets have a new captain, Adam Lowry.
"When I found out, I was pretty excited, almost a little speechless," said Lowry in a statement. "It’s something growing up you kind of can dream about and something that seems almost unattainable. Getting to be a captain of a Canadian NHL team is pretty special and something I’m really looking forward to."

However, leaving the A on Scheiffle is a mistake.

Part of the troubles in the room still linger and if you take a letteraway from Scheif and he sulks this makes takeaday off look bad cuz he has had years to figure this out?
