The guy I want from the Habs is Arber Xhekaj Definitely a big body. The last time the Jets were truly a force, our D lineup was Trouba, Buff, Myers, Chiarot, Morrissey and Kulikov. That’s the direction I would like to see us take. 5 big bodies and a puck mover.

Is it too late to add Cheveldayoff to the list? Wow! I just found out from the COO the Jets had a great first half the season and made the playoffs! And Chevy and company are loving the direction the Jets are going. Let's just shut up and remain in awe!

Buy out 26 and then immediately trade 55, followed by 88. We are not a team that Is built for the playoffs, not tough enough to withstand the pounding because of that I would also look to move 27. I like Ehlers but he is often injured and IMO not able to compete in the playoffs, plus he misses the net too much with his shots. On a side note if Helle or any other player does not want to try to improve this team, then move them as well, try to get as many assets for the Jets by moving the "Stars" that don't want to be part of a must change Jets team. If I had to choose between moving 27 or 81 I would move 81. Why?? Because 27 at least plays with some grit, and as we all just saw, 81 vanishes in the tough going.

Very simply, have a look at how Paul Maurice and the Panthers are built and winning. They are mean, skilled, and set the tone of how a playoff game is played and won. Let's get some players who will thump the opposition instead of their bibles.

It never ceases to amaze me of how horrible a reputation the Jets locker room has among the other fan bases. Several people from other cities called Scheifele a "headcase" and "toxic".
Wheeler? "Locker room poison." PLD? Entitled brat
No wonder why nobody wants to come to the Jets.
The way Wheeler threw Bowness under the bus, is despicable. We should look at buying out his last year, or trading him away and retaining 50% of his salary. Addition by subtraction. We need to blow it up.
I am 100% convinced this is Chipman's doing. If Chevy called the shots, this problem would have been resolved by 2019.
ONly one thing to do- DONT BUY TICKETS. Hurt Chipman where it counts. He is a greedy POS, and takes us for granted. Then he produces a video blaming us for not "filling the arena" and makes subtle threats the team will leave?
Well f**k you! Let's vote with our wallet.

I think circumstances will ensure that Dubois is the first traded player, because the Jets will certainly like to avoid having to give him a qualifying that will walk him straight to unrestricted free agency (and diminish his trade value since it wouldn't allow the acquiring team to possibly negotiate a long term deal). The only way to avoid doing that is to trade him at the NHL Entry Draft. Yes, Scheifele could also get traded at the same time, but with Chevy's cautious approach to things I would think there is a chance that he waits until the summer to find what he considers the best offer he can get. Can't see anyone wanting Wheeler even at half price, so take the $5.5M hit over 2 years to buy him out. We won't be paying Scheifele/Dubois $12M+, so Winnipeg can definitely afford the hit (plus cap will go up huge in the 2nd year). So less than 10 mill to replace 3 of the top 6 ?

To buyout Wheeler, the cap hit would be $2.75M for the next season (same penalty the following year as well). Capfriendly has Winnipeg with a smidge under $13M in cap space for next season. Since Dubois is unsigned, the space would only increase by Scheifele's ($6.125M) and Wheeler's ($8.25M - $2.75M = $5.5M) salaries for a new total of $24.5M under the cap. At that point, the Jets would have 7 NHL forwards signed: Connor, Ehlers, Niederreiter, Appleton, Lowry, Perfetti, & Gustafsson, 6 NHL defensemen (Morrissey, Pionk, Dillon, DeMelo, Schmidt, & Capobianco), and 1 NHL goaltender (Hellebuyck). Therefore, they would need to sign/re-sign/acquire at least 6 forwards, 1 defenseman, and 1 backup goalie with that $24.5M in space. With some of those spots likely to be filled internally with inexpensive contracts (RFA's Barron, Stenlund, & Samberg/Stanley), Winnipeg will likely have over $21M to find 4 or 5 more forwards & a back up goalie.

So can they trade Dubois without having him under contract?

So can they trade Dubois without having him under contract? Yeah because they still hold his rights as an RFA for one more season. So, they are basically trading his rights. An example I can think of immediately is when Eric Lindros wouldn't sign with the Nordiques after they drafted him, so they eventually traded his rights to Philly, who signed him to his first NHL contract.

Theres always a fair number of veterans being discarded by teams where you could do some shopping too. As long as they get players with some size and put a lot of effort in every night. It's all this fan base wants. Pride and effort.

Just my take for aggressive moves. We need to get big and nasty on D to make it work. Can’t believe we lost Kovacevic and Stanley not developed. If I am GM, I trade Scheifele to Detroit to be with his pal Copp and try to get Edvinsson and picks and move Dubois to Montreal for Guhle and picks. If Hellebuyck and Connor are happy then we build back up again. Forwards are a dime a dozen. Niederreiter played as well as any of our top forwards so sign him. But we are dealing with Chevy so…..stand pat! Yes. Must get back to big on the backend. Only small guy back there should be Morrissey. Trade away: DeMelo, Pionk, Schmidt and save big on cap space. Quit f'ing around with Stanley.

On the defensive side, need to find a spot for Chisholm too...I don't think there's any way he clears waivers if the try to squeeze him through like they tried with Kovacevic.
